Toby Longworth schafft es den Zuhörer an seine Lippen zu binden und nur mit Worten eine immense Spannung aufzubauen das sich ein ganzes Hörbuch in kürzester Zeit anhören lässt, da man einfach mehr will. Er erzeugt nicht nur Spannung durch Erzählung, sondern verleiht jedem wichtigen Charakter eine eigene Stimmlage, Tiefe und man weiß sofort wer am Reden ist nur durch die Stimmlage welche Toby verwendet. Darf man auf keinen Fall missen!

I Love this Work it show's so good the Hopes and Dreams that each member of the Great Crusade at its time had. It shows what a Good Father and Primarch Horus is. I really like this one it is so Sad the Fate of the Interex if only Erebus didnt stole the sword and wasnt there at all. Horus Heresy might not happend ... EVER. I am looking forward to enjoy the other stories of the Horus Heresy.

Great entry into the 40th century. An excellent reading and, well, Dan is the best author in this world for me.

Longsworth voice is a blessing. no scene felt wasteful filled with loveable Characters and their witty dialoge.

What's there to say about Dan Abnett that hasn't already been said? This man just understands how to write compelling, interesting characters you're emotionally invested in. I (as probably most Warhammer players) of course knew the basics of what happened during the Horus Heresy, but getting this pretty unique insight into the Legion and especially Garviel Loken's mind enriches the already awesome lore by a large margin.

Toby Longworth provides a unique pitch and character to each protagonist he voices, and one always knows who's talking. A very enjoyable listening experience which accompanied me through a couple of evening painting sessions.

Captivating from the first minute to the last.

Dan Abnet takes his time to introduce all major players of the events which will unfold in the upcoming books. So a few chapters fly by with a lot of scene setting and backstory for important characters until the book finally accelerates towards the end.
This one only really shines when reading between the lines and seeing how the big events to come are reflected in the small actions of the unsuspecting Astartes.

A true classic of a Warhammer 40.000 book, brought to life by awesome voicover work.

It's filled with great Battle scenes, but also great character stories - the lives of the remembrances, Lokans rise to the morneval and the beginnings of the Horus Heresy. You also really get a sense for why Horus' fall to chaos was so tragic. He is really charismatic in this book, really likeable. For fans, the depiction of an early, pre Heresy and pre imperial cult empire of man, with its rejection. of religion is also really interesting.

Over all, I enjoyed this book a lot. Can't wait to get into Book 2!
