The story

Censured at the Council of Nikea for his flagrant use of sorcery, Magnus the Red and his Thousand Sons Legion retreat to their homeworld of Prospero to continue their use of the arcane arts in secret. When the ill-fated primarch foresees the treachery of Warmaster Horus and warns the Emperor with the very powers he was forbidden to use, the Master of Mankind dispatches fellow primarch Leman Russ to attack Prospero itself. But Magnus has seen more than the betrayal of Horus – and the witnessed revelations will change the fate of his fallen Legion, and its primarch, forever.

The story about Magnus the red is a thrilling tale with big battles, many insights about the warp and the thousand sons.
While Magnus and the human side characters are well described and developed I did not connect with the Astartes protagonists. sadly they seemed quite interchangable, which is problematic when they have to carry a lot of the drama.

Die Geschichte ist spannend und sie enthält genug SciFi-Elemente, um sie (für uns SciFi Fans) interessant werden zu lassen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

The book itself is rather interesting and develops well, but the narrator seems to think that shouting is a good substitute for emphasis and cadence. If you can stomach the first few chapters though you sill grow accustomed to it and it will not bother you in unraveling the fate of tue thousand sons.

They are my favored legion due to their noble intent and their to human failure.
