Was a great journey with Loken and the first three books picture the Fall of Horus so well. Great Writing, great reader....waiting for a TV Adoption that does it's justice ;-)

A deserving end

The third book follows multiple parallel storylines with almost constant suspense and with great presentation. toby Longworth nails the voices and intonation as always. The most entertaining of the first the books.

A fulminant escalation

Part 3 of the Horus Heresy finally delivers on the buildup of its predecessors: While parts 1 and 2 were certainly richer in their exploration of the more philosophical conflicts leading up to the heresy, part 3 releases the tension in one magnificent firestorm of action spanning almost the entire novel. The pathos of greek tragedy is replaced by that of epic heroism.
Toby Longworth does once again a great job of transporting the emotions of sometimes rather alien characters.

A long awaited climax

Without wanting to spoiler, I would not recommend this book to anyone who is bad at dealing with shitty endings. Personally, the events of the last few chapters quite thoroughly killed my interest in the rest of the series. Too much pointless death on all the wrong sides.
