Great book, terrible audio production

The book itself is great but the changing of the narrators ruins the book, especially because the new narrators are very bad. Tim Gerard Reynolds, who narrated the previous books alone, is still great. The other narrators ruin the experience. Some are mumbling, some are over-acting, others sound boring. The biggest problem is Ephraim's narrator who is so hard to understand that I had to turn the volume to max. Extremely annoying experience overall, ruined an otherwise good book. I dread the next book of the series.

Political intrigue and multiple perspectives

The first time I listened to this book, I got lost in the many voices and names and the narrative, so I can't say I enjoyed it much. But now, on relistening to the red rising series, I actually thought this book was stellar (if you pay attention). Multiple points of view give you a deeper understanding of the society and the politics are very fun to follow. I definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to how the saga continues.

Großartig

Es ist nicht einfach die Qualität während einer langen Buchreihe aufrecht zu erhalten.
Jedoch ist Iron Gold ein weiteres hervorragendes Buch. Ich hatte sogar den Eindruck, dass die Erzählung diesmal noch etwas klarer und überlegter aufgebaut wird.

Etwas ärgerlich ist nur der harte cliffhanger am Ende des Buches. Hoffentlich ist der Nächte Teil bald verfügbar.

Why do multiple narrators? Mr. Reynolds good as always but going from one to multiple made me not want to listen.

Like the Hobbit movie to the LOTR movies

The first three bocks are masterpieces that stole sleep away from me and just took me on an amazing journey.

Unfortunately this book is different and not for the better. Instead of only one main character you now have four with different story lines some of which converge. Similar to Game of Thrones except it doesn't work as well here.

The characters feel flat and in addition to that some of the important characters from the previous books are simply killed "off screen".

The list of the flaws could go on, but the biggest flaw of this book is that for long stretches it is just plain boring by telling us stuff we already know from the previous books and forcing negative emotions from four different characters down our throats.

The only redeeming factors are that we get more of the world and some of the plots are actually interesting, like the syndicate part. Other than that quite a dissapointment in my oppinion.

good story, mixed narrators

the story is less focused than the previous books, but nonetheless engaging. having multiple viewpoints is giving it some fresh air.
the narrator's for lyria and lysander didn't do a very good job of giving moments gravity. example for lyria: in the camp when it gets hectic, lysander at the end when someone says "farewell. "
it seemed rushed. I listened to their parts at 0.9 speed which helped. I'd say slow down a little, let us linger on moments!

still enjoyed it immensely though :)

Great Book. One of the speakers is beyond terrible

Like the series before the book is full of fast action, detailed charaktes in a complex world.
All male charactes are spoken real good.

Sadly the female speaker (for the character Lyria) is so bad that i realy couldnt take it). Somehow she tryes to make the voice so heavy with emotion in every single moment that is read - even when nothing happens at all. It is extremely tiering and annoying!
I skipped every single of Lyrias chapers thereafter. Luckly this does not hurt the story much - still I can t beleave that a book this great is tortured liek this.

Schade

Die Geschichte war zwar weiterhin spannend, aber hat unter den wechselnden Sprechern gelitten. Aedin Moloney's überdramatisierter Part war einfach nicht zu ertragen.

Good book, pretty much ruined by the narration

I thoroughly enjoyed the contents of the book, I feel the story stays true to what the original trilogy intended.
I must say, however, that lyrias voice actor, especially, made me seriously want to quit listening to the book at times.
She delivers her lines (quite literally any and all of them) in an overly emotional manner to a point at which it feels almost ridiculous and gets truly hard to listen to.
A brutal interrogation conducted by stone cold Warlord killers just shouldn't sound like the interrogators are right about to burst into streaming tears t any given moment.
More than once I found myself quitting the app because it became too much for me to bear. No personal insult intended, of course, though I believe a wildly bad choice was made for the actress here, perhaps solely for her Irish accent.
TGR was splendid as always, eph was great, as well. And while many consider Lysander's actor to be too emotionless, I believe it fits his persona, hence I took no issue with his narration, either.
