The apocalypse will be televised!
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible.
In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground.
The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot. A dungeon so enormous, it circles the entire globe.
Only a few dare venture inside. But once you're in, you can't get out. And what's worse, each level has a time limit. You have but days to find a staircase to the next level down, or it's game over. In this game, it's not about your strength or your dexterity. It's about your followers, your views. Your clout. It's about building an audience and killing those goblins with style.
You can't just survive here. You gotta survive big.
You gotta fight with vigor, with excitement. You gotta make them stand up and cheer. And if you do have that "it" factor, you may just find yourself with a following. That's the only way to truly survive in this game - with the help of the loot boxes dropped upon you by the generous benefactors watching from across the galaxy.
They call it Dungeon Crawler World. But for Carl, it's anything but a game.

Funny, sad and a good story
This is my favorite book, the story is really funny and absurd. The humor may not be for everyone, but it catched me.
Jaff Hase is also the best voice actor i know and does a great job.

this is not reading, this NARRATION
God damn it, donut! just get the audiobook! it's funny, entertaining and overall just great. no excuses, just get it, porkboy!

The two catch phrases
It seems that most people read those books and the publisher do think this story is kind of funny, hilarious even. And yes those books have a funny icing above the actual horror.
It is summarized with Carl's two catch phrases:
The official one, 'Goddammit, Donut' is the sometimes silly playing on cliches with simple puns and reference to pop culture.
The unofficial 'You won't break me' stands for the horror mankind and the protagonist go through. And this is the really good layer.
I think you can listen to it and have just fun. But then, I guess you are not really listening.
Remark:
The narrator reads pretty slow and whiny which was hard for me to bear. I set the speed to 1.15 and then was able to enjoy.

Simply fantastic
Don't get fooled by the goofy looking cover and name. Yes this Book can be very silly but it is so incredibly good. The Narration is absolutely Top-notch aswell. There are little soundeffects here and there but not so much that they get annoying.
Trust me, just give this one a shot

Beat Narrator Ever
The story's really good, but what made me give this audiobook 5* was the production value. the narrator is so damn good and the effects they used for some of the voices (I will never be able to hear the word "ACHIEVEMENT" normally again xD) really made this whole read an amazing immersive experience!

pretty good production quality, but the story is a bit lacking
first off, this is an isekai. straight up.
it doesn't do a lot different from the dozens of other animes and mangas trying to emulate sword art onlines success.
that being said, the character interactions are fun and the combat encounters are either solved through some clever trick or just brushed over if they don't do anything to for the story, which is appreciated. in that regard it resembles goblin slayer, if you're familiar with that manga (minus the explicit content). a lot of info is mentioned throughout the book that will come up as a solution to a later problem, so the reader is encouraged to think of possible solutions themselves.
the basic plot itself however seems a bit contrived, though. it feels very similar to hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, only that the rest of the setting doesn't seem to make it make sense in the universe it presents the reader, unlike in HGTG, where the entire galaxy is so silly and stupid, that destroying the earth to make way for an intergalactic super highway is actually seems like a perfectly plausible thing to happen.
I'll probably stick with the series, because the adventure itself *is* a lot of fun, but I can't give it more than three stars for the story at this point.

Amazingly different and clever
The book takes jabs at many common themes, nerdy and general. The story is witty and refreshingly immersive. Great book.
