    Inhaltsangabe

An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends.

It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters.

Actually, mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

    Disappointed

I've bought this book because its synopsis was interesting and overall ratings were high with almost 300 votes. This many people can't be wrong, right?
I might be a deviant then. I pulled the plug after listening to about a quarter of the book, unable to soldier through more whiny characters.
I could not relate to the main character at all and slogging through her endless monologues went from mildy annoying to a chore to mental waterboarding.

    [[Spoilers]]
After the Main Character(MC) got almost raped by a goblin, who also tried to kill her after she resisted, I thought it couldn't get worse. I don't mean the topic, I mean the character's action being so stupid that I need new words for unrelateable or alien.
-MC was apprehensive about killing the goblin that tried to rape and working very hard on killing her
-MC weeps for the goblin that she killed - the one that ripped her clothes trying to rape and kill her? yeah, that one
-MC goes on and on about not killing goblins and whines endlessly about it
I get the sentiment of not becoming the monster you wish to protect yourself from, but if she didn't have plot armor she'd be dead 20 times already.
I finally dropped the book after the book introduced the even whinier Ryouka and when MC began throwing tantrum fits because of her period. She was annoyed that inhuman peoples in another world in a medieval-esque culture did not know about humans having periods and not having menstrual products. My head shaking would put metal heads in awe at this point.
    [[End spoiler]]

I really wanted to like this book (since I am an insufferable miser and I did pay for it), but I just can't. I wish I had the mental fortitude to ignore all the bad things in this book and enjoy it like the hundreds of others here - but my mind is weak.
The silverlining is that I liked the voice actor, she tried really hard to make this book feel more alive, although some of it was a bit annoying and disruptive (like the antman speech).

All in all, I can't recommend this book to anyone I know. The people I think who might enjoy this would be the ones that like slice of life isekai mangas/animes - though I'm not sure that'd translate well into audio format, either.

    Unbearable main character

I wanted to give this story a chance to shine, but had to stop after a few chapters. The MC is supposed to be a young adult, but acts and talks like she is a twelve year old anime cliche character. The voice acting for her is painfully annoying and the story starts slow and unengaging.

For the love of all that is holy, don't buy this

I couldnt make it through the whole thing. I literally pulled up at the side of the road just to write this review.

The main character is possibly the single most annoying person I've ever been tortured with in any media. She has all the agency and self reflection of a cardboard cut out.
She is stupid, whiney and annoying AND never gets any less so.
Also, this whole anti-human racism thing that's going on; is the author trying to be clever? Because it was incredibly hamfisted and doesn't add much, even though the premise was interesting.

Don't buy this unlike you enjoy incompetence.

    like an American Richard Schwartz

I enjoyed the notion and the backstory.

The narrator did a really good job. I liked her half elf especially. But some of the extras had indistinguishable voices, which made it harder especially since all the characters had nice own voices including different tempi. Almost as good as Rufus Beck. The voice acting was very good also with two bumps of emotional measurement.

The story is great and much like one I read just recently Fluchbrecher by Richard Schwartz

The wandering inn is serious high fantasy.
Come into another world and make a living figure out how to go back? Do I want to go back? Do I want to stay? What can I do? What should I do? What MUSTN'T I do.

I like the magic system that is only brushingly introduced, but I am looking forward to hearing the next of this.

Also for alk fans, all Pirateaba's work is available on her website for free and you can follow her Patreon account for a month of text in advance.
The wandering inn story has currently more than 1000000 words. Exceeding The wheel of time. Are you up for an epic drama in gmhigh fantasy of these proportions?

This is not for the faint of heart. This is for people with a place for High-Phantasy in their soul.

    Thanks for writing and recording.

I do think right now, I will wait for the next audio book or at least check out when it will be out. Before I start reading because I do want to know how it goes on.

    Kompletter Fehlkauf

one of the best out there

i loved this audiobook! the story is amazing and a bit different then anything else out there. there are so many characters that are unique and loveable (and hateable).

the speaker is amazing as well! I think I love the story even more because of her!

hopefully there will soon be a second part to listen to. dont really want to read the book since the speaker is so good.

Really good, but sooooo teassssiinnnngggg ....

I will give you 5 reasons to buy it and two reasons to not.

    1. I laughed.
    2. I cryed.
    3. I cryed alot ... damm you tear ducts. Don't open the waterpipes in public transportations...
    4. It's an interwoven storyarc of many characters, not just the one main one. And many many many unsolved arcs remain.
    5. Every NPC, every Tree and every damm ROCK GRAB feels alive. Well, except the death ones. Really death ones.

And why shouldn't you buy this.

    1. It's so damm long ... and yet so short. Just need more and the wait is already killing me.
    2. I hate Ryoka Griffin. I always hate these kind of characters.
    (3. I'm still unsure if Eren is an Adult or a Kid. Even while saying she's 20's. years old. I know 14 Year olds who are more adult then her, in the first 20 hours. Later on she matures well ... might just be me and the expectation of someone reaching an adultlike level around 16~18 at the slowest pace ... but might be just an American thing to show her off more childlike early on. ... Yeah yeah i said 2 ... but who will count. A goblin? Pah! ... Okay running now, see ya on Vol 2.)
