Über diesen Titel

King of Duels marks the passing of the torch from our beloved Andrea Parsneau to a new narrator. Erin Bennett, a Golden Voice narrator, will continue to bring the magic of The Wandering Inn to life.

The world is full of adventures, big and small.

From exploring the [Garden of Sanctuary] to the depths of the sea, there are countless fascinating discoveries to be made. Not just in the places people go, but in the things they create... or recreate from Earth. Chocolate, lifting weights, and alcohol all flow through The Wandering Inn with unexpected consequences at times.

However, there's also war, [Assassins], and scams that ruin or destroy lives. For every monster, there is an adventurer. The Stitch Witch may creep forward, and the King of Destruction continues his rampage across nations, but there will always be a champion who steps forward.

Featuring a foreword from Andrea Parsneau.

I really enjoyed all books ever since the first came out. This book seemed to me rather like a collocation of short stories or snippets, than a stringently driven story. I wonder if the out-set isn't to brought by now and the characters to many to keep them all together in one story.
Overall, still a rather nice book, though because once hooked in, one cannot but yearn for knowing how the plot develops.
One last thing, the old narrator was better!

The odd one out

I loved this. Like everone else, I guess, I was a bit apprehensive because ofvthe new voice, but it's excellent! I actually enjoyed some of the voices even better! (well.... except for Floss. That could be a bit less...mean). Looking forward to the next one!

Great, as always

I enjoyed the audiobook up to now. Not fully finished it but the Story is continuing nicely.

One Problem is the switch to the new Voice Actor... after 15 books and over 400 hours of time probably.
Erin Bennett is doing a good job for most of the human-female cast. The voices are close to the original.

But the changes to the "non-human" female cast is strange. Feels like Erin Bennett isn't fully in character and just adding extra fluff. The male cast overall is a bit wonky. Given that theres nearly no male humans and everyone has a special talking pattern and stuff... Yeah.Don't get me started with the Ants xD... feels like new people. I have problems recognizing whos who...

I still dont know why the change needed to occur. *Shrugs*

Good , but the change in VA is felt.

Let's face it, Andrea Parsneau is my personal hero - a voice of wonder and much much more. It was because of her, that I had discovered The Wandering Inn a long while ago. One among her most strong points, that sooooo many other voice actors lack, is a wide range of voices. Erin Bennett, the new voice, seems to have exactly this strong point, too.

Now, The Wandering Inn had to find a new 'voice'. I think, Erin Bennett is maybe one of a few out there, that could do the job. In short, I'm looking forward for a few adventurous hours with her and the full Wandering Inn cast.

Erin Bennett - good voice substitute for Andrea P.

Let's begin with the easiest. It's another book in the Wandering Inn series. so the story is amazing and capturing as always.

Now to the big topic, which I think most of us were a bit scared of. When Andrea announced her stepping of, it really was a blow. She is one of the most amazing narrators I've listened to in the 20 years I listen to audiobooks now. So with her stepping down I listened to a few examples of Erin's works on audible and I couldn't really see her replace Andrea, especially in terms of different sounding and already established voices.
But! And this is a big but, I have to say that I've never experienced such a smooth take over of an audiobook narration. Erin is so damn close with her take on the characters that it only feels different in very few situations like some accents. I still think that the took the wrong choice and the should have stayed with Andrea in general and added another narrator like Erin for additional voices to reduce the workload but Andrea did her part for bringing this series to life and such it is ok that she wants to go different routes. Even as I say that Andrea was a smitch better in my opinion, Erin is so close that I would give her narration a 4.5/5. A 4 would be to low, as she does amazing work here.

So to finish up, sad to see a chapter ending but with this quality I'm looking forward to an adequate continuation of this amazing series. Welcome to Erin and looking forward for your work.

Ps.: English is not my native language, so if my grammar is off or something, that's something you have to live with ;)
