A pantheon of forgotten gods. An old grudge between a talk show host, an heiress, and the man they shattered along the way. A rapidly deteriorating AI system. An inconvenient tiara upon the head of a friend.
It is bedlam on the eighth floor.
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit.
Each team of crawlers is given a task: find and capture six of these beasts. The captured monsters will be turned into cards. Cards that can be summoned into battle again and again. The stronger and deadlier the better.
At the end of the floor, the bad guys will also have decks, and they will have some of the most powerful cards available. So it’s crucial to assemble the toughest squad possible.
But like always, there is a catch. There’s always a catch.
As Carl and Donut know all too well, just because someone is captured, it doesn’t mean they have been tamed.
Her name is Shi Maria. She’s easily the most powerful monster in their area. If they want to survive, they must capture her. But she is no ordinary beast. She’s intelligent. She was once married to a god, a god who is now missing. Her special attack is known to drive one insane. They call her the Bedlam Bride.

What the f***
Oh boy. What did I just listened to. That was amazing. The author does an amazing job to expand the story and add even more layers without making it too complicated. The build up over the book was great und the build up to the next is even better.

A good thing that took a ling time to come out.
This is a very good sequel to the series. It keeps the story going in a meaningful direction, addresses prior events, sets up future ones, and, most importantly, it never just meanders. The pacing is quite good, too. It's more of Karl and Donut. If you liked the story and style so far, then you will probably enjoy this as well. Plus, the writing style itself is of a high quality; each sentence is a deliberate part of the narration, and not just descriptive.
The narrator and the guest narrators did a fantastic job as well. Jeff Hayes kills it, and the quick cameos were just as good.

As always
I am a Patreon so I already knew the story, which is just as whacky and over the top as always. It's certainly not for everybody, you have to lean into the mythology and this is just full of cultural references so I wouldn't recommend the Dungeon Crawler Carl books to my grandma, and certainly not to kids because it can get raunchy and there is some gore. However for its niche, this is exceptional and the high quality narration by Jeff Hays and the others is just excellent and elevates the story even further. The series even got enough traction to hire somebody like Patrick Warburton, which is really cool.

Matt Dinniman and Jeff Hays just keep on giving

Best produced audio book I've listened to so far
The Story itself is very solid and has a alot of exaggerated humor and nicely placed drama when the situation calls for it. But what really makes this an amazing experience is the production and narration. Cudos to Jeff Hays. You can truly tell that he put a lot of effort into this one.

Great fun and utter madness once again
This book had it all. Cannot decide if it's is the best in the series or not because I loved them all but it was amazing.
Had a few tearjerking moments and some where I laughed out loud in public like an idiot. It was amazing.
Everytime you think stuff is crazy, some twist turns everything into overdrive.
Satisfying ending as well. Perfect score!

Insane Audiobook
I love the switches from comedie to Drama. The whole audiobook has great depth and the speakers are fantastic!
