Inhaltsangabe
For a decade, Darrow led a revolution against the corrupt color-coded Society. Now, outlawed by the very Republic he founded, he wages a rogue war on Mercury in hopes that he can still salvage the dream of Eo. But as he leaves death and destruction in his wake, is he still the hero who broke the chains? Or will another legend rise to take his place?
Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile, has returned to the Core. Determined to bring peace back to mankind at the edge of his sword, he must overcome or unite the treacherous Gold families of the Core and face down Darrow over the skies of war-torn Mercury.
But theirs are not the only fates hanging in the balance.
On Luna, Mustang, Sovereign of the Republic, campaigns to unite the Republic behind her husband. Beset by political and criminal enemies, can she outwit her opponents in time to save him?
Once a Red refugee, young Lyria now stands accused of treason, and her only hope is a desperate escape with unlikely new allies.
Abducted by a new threat to the Republic, Pax and Electra, the children of Darrow and Sevro, must trust in Ephraim, a thief, for their salvation - and Ephraim must look to them for his chance at redemption.
As alliances shift, break, and re-form - and power is seized, lost, and reclaimed - every player is at risk in a game of conquest that could turn the Rising into a new Dark Age.

Met the high expectations
loved the first trilogy and feared the second might falter... more than happy to be proven wrong! Keep it on Pierce.

Um einiges besser als Teil vier!
Der vierte Teil hatte mich etwas enttäuscht, aber Dark Age hat das bei weitem Wett gemacht. Das Warten auf Teil sechs wird nicht angenehm :-)

Probably the best written of the series
First things first, Tim Gerard Reynolds and John Curless are absolute delights to listen to. They are definitely dedicated to their craft. Rendah and Moira were also good, given that they are new voices for already established characters they had a little more baggage to deal with than Tim and John.
Easily the best written of the series and has the most to offer in terms of action, intrigue, and character development in my opinion. A lot of people will not be the biggest fans of it, but not for a lack of development, story, or action and I think that is as far as I can go without spoiling anything.
My favorite of the series so far.

Same narration problems as the previous one
Great book, great story. But the narration has problems, specifically Ephraim's narrator. I didn't know what was going on in his story half the time because I couldn't understand the man for the life of me, even turning the volume up. He is just a very bad narrator.
The other narrators were fine.

Master story weaver
I am above satisfied with the continuation of the trilogy, this book makes the previous one look like an introduction to all the batshit crazy stuff happening in this one. I fucking love it. it's a more grown up story, and it makes all the sense, it answers the question to what happens after the good guys defeat the bad guys in other YA books, now comes the sauce, how does the dream actually come true? what happens with all these new responsibilities? The characters write themselves, the world building, the inner life of each character, the surprises- I never see it coming! - every thing has a purpose and the plot thickens nonstop. I adore how Pierce Brown interlaces the different perspectives. Somethings felt a bit out of nowhere, specially with Lyria, but I'm trusting that there will be a reason for all that. Also DAMN, the amount of BADASSERY from Darrow corresponds to his influence and image, it's so great to see him from the perspective of others- so fricking good. And my boy Cassius *chef's kiss* it's always nice to see him at his best. Applaus Applaus Pierce you gory damn Genius!
