    Inhaltsangabe

"Daniel Henning is a great narrator for this quirky and theatrical audiobook.... Henning revels in a cornucopia of characters, diving into nuanced voices and colorful moments with accents and growls, tone shifts and whispers.... This is definitely a title for those who enjoy fantasy stories replete with gnomes and witches and all in between." (AudioFile Magazine)

Lambda Literary Award-winning author TJ Klune's breakout contemporary fantasy

Linus Baker is a by-the-book case worker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He's tasked with determining whether six dangerous magical children are likely to bring about the end of the world.

Arthur Parnassus is the master of the orphanage. He would do anything to keep the children safe, even if it means the world will burn. And his secrets will come to light.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place - and realizing that family is yours.

Like Sweet Tea and a Warm Bath

A most adorable story! As someone who has worked with quite a few special children (even though they were a little different brand of special than the kids in the story), the first thing I fell in love with in this story was how true it felt to that. From the protagonist's first impression of the children to the very end of the story, the dynamic felt real and open-hearted. Klune also manages to capture the particular humor you develop in such a profession and I loved seeing that in a novel. The other reason I adore The House in the Cerulean Sea is, of course, the very tender love story at the heart of it. Look, this is a pretty straightforward, very fluffy slowburn fic, with a great premise. No, the plot is not the most surprising, but if you understand the words above you probably would have predicted that anyway. And yet I found myself absolutely captivated and finished the whole thing im two days. It also will probably be my new comfort story whenever I feel down, not something a lot of books have managed. Just do yourself a favour, brew your favourite tea, grab the coziest blanket you own, listen to this magnificent tale and feel much better than you have before.

    Lovely story full of stereotypes

A safe space in book form. The plot is original and interesting, the message is black and white: Lovely misfits. Hateful villagers. Cold, cruel upper management, and a main character who goes from zero to hero. As a straight person, I might not be the target audience for this book even though I fully agree with the main message which comes down with a sledgehammer. Yes, discrimination is bad. I just wished for less black and white.

    Heartwarming

I absolutely loved it! TJ Klunes best work so far (I only know the ones available on audible, so there might be one not yet an audiobook). Quirky, funny and happy. At times it is a bit cheesy, but you know, sometimes that is exactly right.

    A total gem!

The story is absolutely wonderful and delightful.
It took me a bit to get used to the narrator but he did a great job of bringing life and character to each person in the story.
Definitely recommend listening or reading this book!

Such a deep, meaningful story tugging at the heartstrings

This book was recommended to me by a friend and after having listened to it, I must say that I think this is a must-read for all!!!

Klune‘s approach to dealing with topics like prejudice and discrimination is so insightful and empathic that it cannot leave the reader cold. Yet the way the characters are developed will leave the reader chuckling and laughing in the oddest places, making them falling in love with the characters the same way Linus does in the story. From tears to laughs, from pain to love – this story has it all. And most importantly, it offers hope and confidence for the future of society as well as every single individual.

Daniel Henning breaths life into each of the characters by offering unique, character specific voices that fertilize the ground Klune‘s tale is offering.

This audio book experience wants for nothing while at the same time leaving you wanting for more. 10/10, would highly recommend!!!

Probably the sweetest story I've ever encountered!

I couldn't stop listening!! This is the sweetest, sometimes most infuriating and at the same time most heartwarming story I've ever listened to. Daniel Henning is great and fills the characters with so much live. I recommend it to everyone who needs a vacation for the soul, because that's what this is.
