Would totally listen to again , very much recommended it to all my friends

Very nice book. I enjoyed every part of it. The way the author describes emotions is so unique! I loved the authors "voice". Just brilliant. The plot is interesting: it puts immortal life into a different prospective as we used to see in books and movies nowadays. That it can be a burden, the unending suffering that the character chooses over the inevitable darkness. It makes you think a lot of what would you do in the same situation, how would you handle such immortality. I love the books that make me think, that make me ache, and make me forget about the reality for some time. This is definitely one of such.
The narrator was amazing as well! All of the accents and voices.. just wow. The way that she voiced the Shadow... I had goosebumps all the time.

I loved the story, it was fresh and the writing brilliant. Calm and measured, it's was a pleasure to follow the story. The speaker was great too, she did a great job of conveying the emotions and moods of the character. I loved everything!

Best Book I've read/heard in a long time!

It was amazing! I can recommend this book to anyone, it is really a masterpiece, the story is so unique and I was afraid of the ending, but I liked it. It was a perfect ending to such a remarkable story.

You won't forget this book

A sizeable chunk of the book feels kind of like"slice of life".
Addie is 'cursed' and tries to acclimatize to the strange life she finds herself in.
A mixture of suffering, beauty, regrets and curiosity repeats over and over on the pages with no clear plot.
All the while the dark keeps intermittently visiting her only to ask if she will yield and surrender her soul.
There is little development in this part of the book and the author counts on your curiosity to keep on reading.
But as the pages turn the war of attrition wears not only on Addie but also (perhaps intentionally) on the reader.
That changes when she meets Henry and the story starts to pick up steam.

The writing is great and I mean it in the best possible way when I say this book could be analysed in school.

Loved it

Das Buch hat mich oft in einen sehr ruhigen, nachdenklichen Zustand versetzt. Auslöser sind die Art, wie das Buch geschrieben ist, sowie die fabelhafte Sprecherin! Für mich war das ein wahnsinnig angenehmer Zustand und ich habe das Buch sehr genossen. Es ist auch spannend, wie sich die darin enthaltenen Charaktere verhalten und entwickeln. Schön geschrieben und ich denke man kann mit diesem Buch auf jeden Fall nichts falsch machen wenn man ein wenig Romantik sucht sowie starke Charaktere, bei denen man sich wie ein Beobachter fühlen kann, da viele Motive und Taten nicht direkt nah an den sind, wie man selbst handeln würde. Empfehlung!

Julia is one of a kind. Her narration is superb, I found the story engaging but a touch too long. I was longing for it to finish (intentional by the author to resonate with Addie???). Conclusion was quite satisfying.
