Prince Tal has long awaited his coming-of-age tour. After spending most of his life cloistered behind palace walls as he learns to keep his forbidden magic secret, he can finally see his family’s kingdom for the first time. His first taste of adventure comes just two days into the journey, when their crew discovers a mysterious prisoner on a burning derelict vessel.
Tasked with watching over the prisoner, Tal is surprised to feel an intense connection with the roguish Athlen. So when Athlen leaps overboard and disappears, Tal feels responsible and heartbroken, knowing Athlen could not have survived in the open ocean.
That is, until Tal runs into Athlen days later on dry land, very much alive, and as charming - and secretive - as ever. But before they can pursue anything further, Tal is kidnapped by pirates and held ransom in a plot to reveal his rumored powers and instigate a war. Tal must escape if he hopes to save his family and the kingdom. And Athlen might just be his only hope....

sweet and queer fantasy romance
I very much enjoyed the story. It was fastpaced but didn‘t feel rushed even though so much was happening and we still got a lot of character development for the lenght of the book.
Speaking of characters - Tal and Athlen are such cute main characters! I loved their blossoming relationship.
It also was a joy to read how loving and supportive Taliesins friends and family were no matter what.
This book left me feeling very fluffy and happy.

Really Cute
Really cute fantsay lovestory with an interesting plot and nice chatacters. Also, the narrator has a calm but vivid voice which creates a great listenig experience.

Whimsical and delightful
I randomly chose this audiobook thinking it would be an enemy to lovers kind of Pirate meets Prince thing.
What I got was so much more entertaining!
Magic and mythical creatures, all without any homophobia.
I loved the variety of side characters and the way audience were fed enough information to know more than the point of view character.
Overall an engaging, light and loveable tale to help listeners escape the dull reality ;)

Not what I expected
But still a cute, queer story.
The Narrator didn't quite convince me most of the time and in my eyes the story also had a few flaws, however the sweet and lovable characters did make up for that.
