Loved everything about it. The magical world, the ups and downs, the writing. And the narrating was peak!

wonderful experience

I loved Sebastians inner monologues and his unfiltered, in-your-face persona. He was very relatable for it.
but the spice took this baby home. No weired descriptions for body parts, no long streched, fairy tale BS descriptions of the scenes. Just the perfect amount of everything and very straight forward/explicit scenes.
Well balanced to keep it a light romcom with a dash of angst, but not too much.

It didn't disappoint, so I can honestly say, I enjoyed the (audio) book.

banter, cussing and spice

The MC is so funny and witty, I love that. The relationships are good and understandable and I especially found the dealing with trauma interesting and how the parts of the past slowly unfolded. Like you can believe the MC just tried so hard to tuck it away for the sake of survival. So, very interesting how the story gives fun and deep at the same time. It's an interesting balance. The world seems interesting as well but wasn't showing much other than campus life. I'd have loved to see how magic is incorporated in this alternative reality, more. Overall very good.

Sam Stark excels as a narrator - such a treat to listen to. In my opinion the story is very well written and creates a safe space energy. And the spice ... reeeally good!

As soon as I realised Sara Raasch had a new book out I wanted it. I really loved A Nightmare before Kissmas and this one was equally cute.

We are going into an urban fantasy world where there are giants, halfelfs and other fun stuff and the mages enroll in university. So it's a low fantasy setting one can easily drop into.

Both Sebastian and Thio are very cute characters and I liked their stories.

There are spicy scenes and sometimes I get annoyed when this hinders getting on with the story, but I think this book had a good mid level of it.
