Über diesen Titel

Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess.

He never returned.

Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

If he can survive the trials, Corin will earn an attunement, but that won't be sufficient to survive the dangers on the upper levels. For that he's going to need training, allies, and a lot of ingenuity.

The journey won't be easy, but Corin won't stop until he gets his brother back.

I really liked listening to the first two books (didnt check the next part of the series yet, i dislike that its much shorter)
Even tho or maybe especially because the main character has its flaws and very own way of thinking, in which i dont always can agree. It is very nice and interesting to accompany him in his journey.

The speaker Nick Podehl did the best job I ever heard in an audio book. How he voices the main character is so perfectly fitting. And also all the other characters, the voices the styles of speech. Its wonderful.
If have have to rate it very critically, id say.. it´s perfect! period.
Im going to miss this in my next audio book for sure.

Unbelievably good story and excellently read as well. A deep magic system the leaves alot to be explained and well written and interesting characters. Every chapter gets more and more intresting.

Was will man mehr als Fantasy Fan wie komplexe Charaktere, eine sehr gute / interessante Story, Magie und Schwerter!?
Dieses Buch erfüllt alles zu 100%!

Ich konnte nicht aufhören es zu hören bis ich durch war und nun hasse ich mich dafür, weil Teil 2 noch nicht veröffentlicht ist :(

Alleine der letzte Satz in Teil 1 steigt das Verlangen nach mehr!

What an amazing voice actor with a huge range of voices for the various characters. This was the first novel of this genre for me and I loved it.

Love the D&D style setup with the tower rooms and how the world is built up. Just when I thought all plot twists are through there comes this freakin last sentence of the book! Holy Shirt! O.O Did not see that one coming. I will have to buy the next volume right this second!

Fühlt sich stellenweise wie ein Computerspiel an:
Es gibt einen magischen Turm (bzw mehrere) in dem neue Magierschüler ihre Aufnahme bestehen müssen, um magische Fertigkeiten zu erlangen. Umso höher im Turm, umso schwerer die Gegner/Rätsel/Hindernisse. Später geht's ab in die Schule (perfektes Setting um als Leser stufenweise in die Welt der Magie eingeführt zu werden), dort trifft man Freunde und Feinde (Harry Potter hat es gut vorgemacht) bis schließlich im geheimen Alleingang gegen die Regeln verstoßen werden muss um den Tag zu retten. Soviel dazu.
Ich fand den Schreibstil dabei so angenehm zynisch trocken, die Herangehensweise des Hauptcharakter mit seinen vielen vielen Ideen und aufgewecktem "das könnte man doch auch noch probieren" und "schön dass du denkst, das könnte ein Problem sein, ich probier das jetzt einfach" sehr unterhaltsam und abwechslungsreich.

The many voices and accents of the reader are so much fun. The story is a fun and interesting introduction into a fantasy world that has more inspiration from pen&paper and anime than i am used to read. Had a great time and will listen to the next book immediately.

The reader is 6 out of 5 stars.
