The speaker is very good just a bit fast for my taste. I enjoyed it a lot more with 0.9 speed….

1. His mother is extremely dismissive of lower class people and it does not get addressed.
2. Rebecca Woods(the speaker for the female voices) seems to have 3 voices for all the female characters: one with social anxiety, one arrogant and one for "sexy" characters. I found all of them irritating.
I realize that is subjective and personal preference, so I tried to acclimatize, but the "sexy" voice is so out of place in some of these conversations....how can something "she said reassuringly" be said with a breathy growl?
3. The main character does not seem to realize the potential of his innate ability,
He even acknowledges it and strives to do better...which means he suddenly is dead set on becoming something he has not shown an inclination for, while doing nothing different to achieve it.
We suddenly hear about a favourite class we never really were told much about.
4. The sex. Why. It seems to only exist to give him a reason to interact with one of his companions. It's as if the author could not think of an interesting character.
I will return it shortly(I heard circa 10h).
If that doesn't deter you, here are my positive thoughts:
1. Daniel Wisniewski has a pleasant voice.
2. The worldbuilding is fantastic. Factions, a school system, guilds, a class system.
I wish it would have been explored more, but I guess that will be in the second half or Book 2. (without that hope I'd give 3/5 Stars)
3. The characters - although relatively flat - stay consistent with their traits. There is even a bit of character growth.
4. The introduction of new systems is organic. There are no great infodumps.
