Inhaltsangabe
Zorian Kazinski has all the time in the world to get stronger, and he plans on taking full advantage of it.
A teenage mage of humble birth and slightly above-average skill, Zorian is attending his third year of education at Cyoria's magical academy. A driven and quiet young man, he is consumed by a desire to ensure his own future and free himself of the influence of his family, resenting the Kazinskis for favoring his brothers over him. Consequently, Zorian has no time for pointless distractions, much less other people's problems.
As it happens, though, time is something he is about to get plenty of.
On the eve of Cyoria's annual summer festival, Zorian is murdered, then abruptly brought back to the beginning of the month, just before he was about to take the train to school. Finding himself trapped in a time loop with no clear end or exit, he will have to look both within and without to unravel the mystery set before him. He does have to unravel it, too, because the loop clearly wasn’t made for his sake, and in a world of magic even a time traveler isn't safe from those who wish him ill.
Fortunately for Zorian, repetition is the mother of learning….

Great story, over-eager narrator
the story is great, and I have read it multiple times at this point, so I was very delighted, when I found out there would be an audio book. however, I dislike the narration quite severely, because the narrator overemphasizes everything!!! he speaks the way I read to my two year old with biiig voices and stuff, and almost every character has an accent of some kind. sometimes that can be fun, but it grows tiresome quickly when everyone has one. but the worst offense in my opinion is that he quite often starts a sentence with an aborted "em" like he wants to say it and juuuust stops himself. it completely takes me out of the story.

A masterpiece
This story is truly fantastic. Arc 1 covers chapters 1-26 of 108 total and I've read/listened to all of them. There's a lot to like about this story and I can confirm that it continues just as great from start to finish. If you like Harry Potter, Name of the Wind and/or Final Fantasy, I recommend to just go for it and judge after chapter 4.
The story is a fantasy story (not LitRPG) and narrated form the single perspective of the main character in 3rd person POV. Hence, it's free of annoying cliff hangers and we get to learn about the world at same time as the main character. Speaking of the world, it's a fantasy world were magic is real and more modern technologies like trains and guns have been invented only recently. The magic system is well developed and interesting. The main character (15) is a student attending his third year at a rather prestigious mage academy located in a rather rich city. He now enjoys the independence away from his family which is middle class, but rich enough to afford the academy. As for the plot, I don't want to spoil any plot details, suffice to say the main character is pulled into a conspiracy of sorts by the end of chapter 4. What really makes Mother of Learning stand out is that all its characters are developed extremely well and we get to know each one more and more as the story progresses. Although relationships evolve and play a huge role, it's largely free of romance (similar to Harry Potter). What's notable is that each character, be it the main character's little sister (9), his class mates, his famous elder brother and his mentors, have hidden depths to them that are only revealed over time. Also, the main character undergoes a lot of character growth unrelated to him becoming more powerful. This aspect makes Mother of Learning stand apart from other progression fantasy titles. In summary I can only highly recommend this story.
The narrator, Jack Voraces, does a great job with the voices. I especially enjoy his voice for Zach (a class mate) which is just spot-on with that character's personality.

Impossible to listen to
This has got to be a joke from audible. The voice acting for the female characters is terrible beyond comprehension.

The narrator
I guess the story may be good, but I found the narrator really difficult to listen to especially the women high pitched voices were really annoying. It really broke my normally relaxed state while hearing. The narrator is really motivated and this is basically good but it's a bit over the top here. I may try and read this one instead.
P.s. can't tell you anything about the story, only listened for an hour.

Screaming Narrator ruins a wounderful story
Whoever tought that a screaming male adult narrator would be a good Idea should be fired. The story is extremly good sadly the narrator makes this story impossible to listen at. Just check the first few minutes here on audible it does not get better.....

Great story, narrator overdoing it a bit
I liked the story very much. However, I nearly stopped the book early because of the narrator. I became somewhat used to it over time

not for me
As non native english speaker the voice acting of the supposedly british accents is so over the top exaggerated to a level of seriously infuriating me... while the general narrator voice is quite pleasant the protagonist sound as if he is fighting a constipation (not even daring to mention the mother etc.).
14 hours into the book, I just cant help myself continuing anymore. The story just seems so extremely flat. For a magical world, the jump from a single little pet fire dragon to a little bit of pencil lavitating to mind-reading-soulmagic-experienced-mega-spiders is just... unreal as weird as this may sound.
Nevertheless, I hope everyone else will have a great time with it but it is just not for me.

Time Loop done right.
So first off.
I was suprised it was a time loop novel.
I normally hate those alot. Because most are done so badly... and unimagenabley generic.
But this is doing quite good.
It's funny. The world is full of information. The characters are memorable and all have spunk in them. And the female cast isn't just eyecandy for harem stuff.
Our MC isn't the kind of guy that would do "crazy" stuff in the loops. So it's not even wishfullfillment stuff ... which gets boring quite fast. He learns and fights, while the story evolves.
--
The voice actor is doing a god damm job too. Just perfect voices for everyone.
--
As for the story.
Everything matters.
I only gave it 4 Stars, even if i like the story. There's either some plot holes in there OR the author might have forgotten or changed parts. Not to be used later on. And the whole Zac buisness is weird, i won't spoil it. But you will see what i mean, when you get to 3/4th of the book. It just doesnt make sense. At all. Given the enemys actions.
Here's a few open points or bad plot devices:
1. The bridge girl and sad cat. << Not answered that string of events.
2. Message of the Matriach and the point of the map.
3. Why said message couldn't be given normally.
4. Kayle. He's just outright weird at times.
5. Zac in general and the plan at the end of the book.
I will still get the second one. As i enjoyed this alot.

Good Story, female voices horrible
The story deserves a netter narrator. The female voices are Lust slurred, girl voices are scratchy and will Male bats loose orientation. I voncidered giving this book back. Ist was a close call.

I liked it
I liked listening to the book. The story is interesting and kept me entertained until the end. I did have some trouble with the slow-acting and overly cautious main character. The narrator did a good job with the protagonist's voice but (in my opinion) messed up with the female characters by giving them strange accents on top of squealing voices thereby making them unpleasant to listen to.
Would I recommend this book? Probably..? I liked it enough but the whole thing is really slow going. Sometimes I had the impression that the protagonist didn't care about his circumstances (I mean he knows what is coming but always manages to be surprised by something) and just enjoyed learning different things - certainly useful but unrelated to the problem at that specific time. That said, the book is well written and the character growth is nicely done as well. If you like a protagonist who thinks twice before jumping into any situation this book is for you. If you like a proactive protagonist, one who faces danger instead of running from it or avoiding it altogether, you will have difficulties. This book is not action-packed.
Would I read or listen to a sequel? Yes. All the build-up and the many cool things the main character learned promise a fantastic future ride!
