Über diesen Titel
A team of adventurers enters an epic trial of wits, magic, and monsters in this thrilling new fantasy series set within the Arcane Ascension universe.
Parties attempting to claim the treasures of the Tortoise Spire of Dalenos are usually composed of six professional climbers. But following a near-disastrous climb, Team Guiding Star Legacy finds itself two challengers short. With Nieve as the frontline fighter, Sage as the strategist, Lani as the healer, and Emiko as the spellcaster, they need a couple powerful allies to round out the squad.
The first new recruit, Hane, is a fighting and stealth specialist, while the second, Aldis, has quite the talent for teleportation magic. Though their individual reasons for scaling the spire vary—wealth, fame, favor—the team’s shared goal is thus: fight, win, ascend, and repeat. All in the hopes of one day making it to the top, where the goddess awaits to grant them the objects of their deepest desires.
To achieve this goal, they must master escalating levels of fire and ice, dangerous creatures, and confounding illusions. Whether facing a threat to their bodies, their magic, or their minds, each of the climbers accepts the risks. And bending the rules is part of the challenge. Some call this cheating; others call it winning.
But no test is ever straightforward. Because Guiding Star Legacy is being judged, and their next contest is one they aren’t meant to survive. Ascend or fall, the quest is only just beginning.

"Nicol’s fantasy novel offers a promising start to a new spinoff series, set in former role-playing game designer Rowe’s popular Arcane Ascension world...surprising elements and shocking twists [lead] to a harrowing final life-and-death battle and [set] up an intriguing premise for a continuing series....Fans of anime, RPGs, and the authors’ previous work will be eager to follow Guiding Star Legacy’s further adventures." —Kirkus Reviews
Weiterhin ist die Story irgendwie eher flach, startet im Nirgendwo ohne die Charaktere entstehen zu lassen.
Schade! hoffe das nächste wird besser :p
Nicht mit Arcane Ascension zu vergleichen.

Supposed adults spending their time either mooning or griping about each other while they stumble through completely random challenges. And I can't find connection or interest in any of it.
I am truly disappointed. The author can do so much better. I like t he Arcane Ascension series and I am looking forward to the next book. But this? was a waste of my time

It is clear all people in these books are "good" people by the authors definition but they preachy the ideology and it is exhausting. And I even agree in principle with the ideas presented, but they are presented in the most pretentious way possible. What urks me most is also the one flaw in the world building I hate, the monsters. They are magical creatures but think and act like humans, they should not especially a crystal shard should think completely different than a human. They especially should have not reason to follow our morals. But that is my problem with the books of the author in general.
i like most characters presented if they aren't preaching their morals, they are better than in arcane ascension. It's also great to read a book were demi gods for once aren't the solution to everything. I hate Selirian in arcane ascension as an example.
One thing I have to praise the last fight was really good. I loved it and if the description for the second book hadn't spoiled me I would not have seen it coming, as such do NOT read the description for the second book if you want the surprise. It doenst ruin the encounter but it takes away the umpf for the first time.
As such it's entertaining, you can skip the characters preaching because they said everything important in teh first 2 minutes of their moral crusade monologue. It is a good step forward for a writer that can create an interesting world but really struggles to not sabotage his own stories with his characters. A solid C+ and I hope the author learns to keep his preaching outside his books. There are better ways to teach morals than beeing preachy.
a preachy step forward
