Über diesen Titel

Upon returning to Valia after his journey to Caelford and the Unclaimed Lands, Corin Cadence is confronted with a familiar foe—his own father.

While his strength has vastly increased since his last encounter with Magnus Cadence, Corin knows that he’ll need every trick at his disposal—and maybe a few new ones—if he wants to survive a duel with his father intact.

While Corin struggles with his family, his friends must face a second year at Lorian Heights with new classes, familiar but new chancellor, and deadly new enemies both on and off the campus. But school itself is the least of their worries. As the year progresses, the nation of Valia faces new travails at the emergence of a mysterious faction targeting attuned commoners and foreigners.

Casualties mount as Corin’s allies seek to unmask the leadership of this deadly order—and discover a threat that they cannot hope to face and emerge unscathed.

The Silence of Unworthy Gods is the fourth book in the Arcane Ascension series, a progression fantasy epic that mixes dungeon crawling and magical school content. This book also references events from the Weapons & Wielders series up to Book three, a connected series that takes place several years earlier with some overlapping cast members.

There is soo much going on it's great.
Everything that is announced is resolved at the end and yet there is a big cliffhanger at the end.

Getting even better

Ich war von den früheren teilen bereits sehr begeistert und wurde auch in diesem nicht enttäuscht.

Richtig gut!

I think this is my favorite book of the Arcane Ascension Series yet. I am really excited about how it will continue after this riveting book. A deeper dive into the magic and some interesting world building.

Thrilling Addition to the Series

Up and Down
wished several times the audio would end , and other times that i would not

Uff

I really enjoy the worldbuilding, possibilities and fleshing out the author is doing.
the writing itself keeps getting better across the books.

Cons: The internal struggles of the protagonist are too dragged out. Only parts that had me turn off the audiobook.
A bit too much book-foreign characters and names are being thrown around that you would not know only reading this series. It creates a bigger world picture which is fine, but it disorients the listener/reader.

great story, exceptional worldbuilding

It is such a creative great and intersting story with well fleshed out and likable characters and beautiful intricate world building.

recurring things I wish the author would not do as much:

The group to me always feels well balanced with Patrick and Gin or any other person in largely eqhally active roles as Sera and Mara. 1. When the side character dynamic heavily focuses on Sera, then everyone else is often left behind or doesn't contribute much at all. Sera is flawed and on top of that bossy in my opinion, doesn't make a believable voice of reason and seems to be used as plot device to explain things to Corin in a preachy way.

2. Hinting at information repeatedly, sometimes across volumes, and how this 'should maybe and could be asked about now' and then repeatedly for no valid reason characters decide to postpone to ask. This doesn't feel like something the characters would do naturally in the specific situations. I shall dub this plot device " Incremental Cliffhanger".

I really like this series with minor deductions

Interesting new faccettes and background to new characters and an absorbing world. That the genderism became part of the book now is discussable but only lasted for a short confusion.

I can recommend listening.

Great continuation

One of the best in the series, great character progression and fast pacing.
The ending is not to bad of a cliffhanger but I can not wait to read the next one.

Great continuation

I love AA series and also W&W series from Andrew Rowe but this book should have been a novella! The first 10-12 hours are - with rare exceptions - nothing more than exposition. Inconsequential. This is the fourth installment of AA, so instead of addressing at least some of the elephants in the room, there is 10 hours of daily accounts of going to classes and how magic works.

Later, the book does pick up the pace a bit so it is not all bad.

Even when a long awaited character comes back...not much happens. Waiting for Eric Taren all over again to then get to know not much.

The book is fun to listen to thanks to Nick Podehl as usual but the story is really weak at times, wanting me to scream "who the F cares, answer some of my questions that have been building up since book 1". Instead, we get to know more of the protagonists quirks and insecurities that have not really changed or evolved since book 1...yawn.

All in all, this is a weak bridge to a hopefully more interesting book 5.

10 hours of exposition...in the FOURTH book!!!

A perfect written next part. The story is taking some unexpected curves, especially in the last quarter. The narrator is brilliant like in the books before. I can't wait for the next one. So please Mr. Rowe, give us more! Fast!
