Enemies emerge everywhere. Stagnation starts seeming standard. Results require Ruthlessness.

Joe has been moving deeper into his study of ritual magic and further away from his combat team. He's learning more and more, but more often than not needs to choose between his research and squad leadership. Improving the town is a huge help to the guild, and they have been pushing to increase their power.

Their rapid increases have not gone unnoticed. The guild receives an ultimatum, delivered by assassins and signed with blood. If they continue to accrue power and fame, each and every person with a grievance against the guild will come to smash the town back to square one.

With tensions coming to a head, all Joe wants to do is leave it all behind and reach the next area. He flatly refuses the guild when they ask him to devise lethal options to use against the gathering army, but when the time comes...even Joe is unsure if he'll step into the limelight and show everyone exactly how ruthless he can be.

If you have reached book 5 of this series you know how good it is. But still wanted to say: Retaliation of Shadows cracked me up, it's awesome.

I adore this series and the speaker.
The characters are well rounded, the world building rich and the story gripping. All told in a voice that makes the most technical aspects interesting.

Also, there is a Blooper Reel. Awesome 😂

Funny, original, intelligent

While initially I put this series on hiatus due to the narator change, he performs amazing In this title (also the bloopers are an amazing addon :) ) . The story is interesting and over the top Charakter development as you would expect it from this series. If you liked the previous ones you will also love this .

Weak points are probably very little actual Charakter development overall (well it's litRPG.. what do you expect ? ) And that the story is rather short. Also, joe must seldom face real desasters and stumbles into good things. But this is also something I love about this series. It ist not serious but light hearted interesting fun with to many puns :)

Would recommend to listen.

I realy cant wait for more. It is an awosome series that focuses on real Problems in contrast to the typical youth Fantasy books. Also it is astonishing that the author allready incorporated corona into his novel in a manner. Keep up the amazing work! Also please go on some holidays at some Point. I mean it is great that you are Publishing books in the record time of half a year each but dude… you also have to enjoy life ! :D

I would really love to tell you how much I love the series - and I do. But... But BLOOPER REEL! OMG, can I have that in every audiobook please. I was sitting at work, laughing my ass off and I regret nothing!

Enjoyed every second, narrator is brilliant and story continues, without any long reviews, right where it stoped in part 4.

To the story, well ruthless!

My recommendation to all who have not started this series, read it in one rush, otherwise it is a bit hard to catch up it may be hard to follow if you have read it 1-2 years ago.

Looking forward to see Joe mastering the next zone. Elves and dwarfs be aware and be warned, here he comes the bold headed weirdo!
