An Epic Fantasy LitRPG Adventure

Resources? Zilch. Shelter? Ha. Monsters? Hungry, and closing in.

Joe the Ritualist fled Alfheim with the remnants of the Dwarven Oligarchy at his side. Though the hairy warriors number in the tens of thousands, they stand at the brink of extinction; and the new world they landed on isn’t pulling any punches. Jotunheim is a winter wonderland featuring a vast array of monsters: the least of which are hulking lizard-ape Hoardlings, and carnivorous penguins standing a dozen feet tall.

The world is massive, deadly, and empty: But all Joe sees is free real estate. Thanks to Specializing in magics that allow him to rapidly create buildings, the Ritualist starts carving out a defensible area for his allies. Dense walls, workshops that churn out weapons and armor, even magical edifices that rain death upon the swarming creatures. Being so new to the world, they mistakenly believe that expanding quickly equals safety.

But on the world of giants, ramping up production just means ringing a bigger dinner bell.

It amazes me how the quality of the book and here I reference the narrator as well as the author is as good or even better than the first of this series. Simply stunningly amazing.

As good as the first book

The dwarfs are not funny but just annoying. I hope the author starts writing good books again. There haven't been any interesting new characters in the last few books.

The first books were so nice, last few books suck

It’s a weaker entry into the series, essentially joe builds a town and defends it from monster waves. There is little actual progression or new things that are discovered and no truly epic feats are achieved - or at least the don’t feel like it.
Still a good book, even if it doesn’t move things forward

It’s ok, but things don’t move forward

I never got into the book because I don't like tower defence much and the character arc wasn't really catching on either.

Narrating Bloons Tower Defence was boring

The last books fell like the autor has no plan for the end of the series and just putting out content now. The story isn't even half as complex as the first time Joe build a town.
Nice battle at the end, but no interesting or important stuff in the middle.
This is getting more like the Artorian books, which are good to listen while waiting for sleep.

Lacking fresh ideas

First i should state that i love the universe Dakotas books are based in. The humor, the details of the world building, etc.

What i don´t like with this series is first: As a completionist, Joe has such a narrow skillset and is much to focused on specific areas. A completionist in a game tries to achive as much as possible. Learn as much as possible. Discover as much as possible. Explore as much as possible of every available area. Joe does none of those things, he specializes and builds up specific areas. So the title dosen´t fit the story at all.

Second and this is the much more important part. I really hate how he gets bossed around all the times, but still gets all the blame for every little detail which goes wrong in his vicinity (dosen´t matter if he is involved or not). Nobody else seems to need to hold any kind of responsibility in the universe, except for Joe. This is shown in nearly every book. He always needs to use his own resources (which he collected by his own efforts) to create stuff for somebody else, and in most cases he dosen´t get any credit for doing stuff. I absolutly hate how the dwarves tell him how he needs to prove himself over and over and over to them, only to have something small happen, which leads to loosing all trust in him again. It´s a war torn race, they should understand that in fight stuff can go wrong, losses can happen, but it somehow ends up all to be Joes fault and nobody elses.

I think i will see how the next book of this series goes, but if it continues with this guilt trip for everything in the next book, i will stop listening to this series, as it only starts aggravating me.

Don´t like the way its going

I really like this series but the 8th Book lost some of its momentum. And the 9th can't even keep me focused.

While trying to listen my thoughts are wandering around and the story isn't good enough to prevent it. It feels like Joe is just doing a to-do list.

Not as catching as the last.

This just confirms my fears since 3 books ago. The author keeps forgetting every major plot that happend previously or just actively chooses to ignore them. This is just one lonely protagonist doing stupid things. Not a single other character besides Joe does anything relevant this book. Not leveling? No progressing? No bonding? Literally nothing interesting happend this book. You could skip this entire novel and read a 2-sentence paragraph summary and would miss nothing.

Just aweful, i cant believe i paid for this.
