great listening

I was on a long travel by train and this book kept me entertained the whole time. one of the better titles out of the BL.

cynical fun in the grim darkness of the far future

A great intro for people without much experience on 40k lore and a nice twist for everyone jaded by constant stife.

Warhammer 40k was always to bleak for me in book form, since everybody that is not a Ultramarine usually dies. Ciaphas gives the zealous mind of a Commissar a bit of believability even if none of his colleagues would admit to it.

Good sound production, VAs did a great job. My only gripe is, that at this point, there are not more CC books available on Audible.

Amazing narrators and terrific story

The story is really good and has become one of my favorits.
Its a charakter driven Warstory about the charasmatic Commisar Ciaphas Cain.

The narratoros are fantastic and do a stunning Job. Perrings Voice is a perfect fit for Cain and the editorial notes are deliverd with quiet the charm.

The fandoms go to recommendation for a reason

Ever since I started getting into Warhammer, people kept recommending me this more lighthearted approach to the grimdark future of mankind and I have to say I enjoyed it immensly. While the threats he's facing are serious enough, Cain is never overly serious about them. He doesn't struggle with his faith or his duty like other protagonists of the genre, he's just trying to get through the day and relax with a cup of his beloved tea. Over the course of the book his practical almost cowardly nature turns out to be quite charming and I don't regret a minute I spent on this book. For those of you familiar with the "All guardsmen party", you know what you're in for. It has a very similiar feel to it.

Great start to an even greater Legend

Amazing flow of the story, very well structured and engaging throughout the whole listen. Very well worth the time and dime spent on it and will handily find its place in my most favoured Warhammer Books.

Hilarious History in the Grimdark Universe

I hardly do a marathon "hearing" session, but this book was well worth it! The history is compelling and amusing. Recommended

In a good way though. I nearly crashed my car several times while listening to this because I was busy laughing.

Cain is such an enjoyable character to hear about in the 40k universe, his exploits never fail to entertain. Thank the emperor for him and Yurgen

I like the voice actors in this book , I think they did a terrific job and I hope part 2 comes out one day
