Inhaltsangabe

An Adeptus Mechanicus novel.

In the wake of the Great Rift, Belisarius Cawl turns his attention to the abandoned world of Sotha. Once home to the Scythes of the Emperor, it also hides a long-buried secret...and an ancient evil.

Listen to it because:

Cawl is one of the most fascinating characters in the Dark Imperium, and Guy Haley gets right into his memory circuits as he seeks ancient secrets that will blow your mind.

The story:

Belisarius Cawl, Archmagos Dominus of the Adeptus Mechanicus, is the most brilliant mind alive. For 10,000 years he has furthered the cause of mankind, working under the aegis of the Emperor and Lord Commander Roboute Guilliman to prevent the inexorable march of the alien and the traitor. Many call him heretic, but all must recognise the magnitude of his achievements, for who else but he was entrusted to create a new generation of Space Marines?

Who else but the great Belisarius Cawl could even accomplish such a task? Now, in the wake of the Great Rift and the Indomitus Crusade, his ambitions bring him to the long-dead world of Sotha, once home to the Scythes of the Emperor, now a barren wasteland devoured by the vile Tyranids. Accompanied by Tetrarch Felix and his elite warriors, it is here that Cawl believes the lynchpin of his mysterious Great Work lies. But uncovering it is a near impossible task, one in which the Archmagos must overcome an ancient evil that threatens to extinguish the last hope of humanity.

Written by Guy Haley. Total running time 11 hours and 11 minutes. Performed by John Banks.

Belesarius, Felix, Tyranids, Necrons ... AWESOME

After the Dark Imperium books (wich i hope will have a 3rd entry soon) we got to know Tetrarc Felix Decimus (butchered that one, sry). In this book we get to know him even better. Leading his troops to aid Belesarius Cawl, a quite intresting persona indeed, in Cawls endeavor to harness vital information. Information that could save mankind. Under Felix's troops is an old but still honorable batch space marines, which are trying to redeem themselves and take vengeance on the ugly genestealers that destroyed their home planet. In summary it is jet again a great book to listen to. The insight u gain about Cawl and Felix is pretty awesome and u start to connect even more with those characters. The lets call it side plot with the genestealers is a good adition to the main story. All of the spoken by the great John Banks makes for a decent and great experience. Try it yourself, u wont be disappointed.

A good epic.

It's everything I want from a good book. Plus the voice actor is becoming one of my favorites. I love this so much xD. Praise the Maschine God. An actual story that's deep. But I suggest getting the first 3 Horus heresy books before + some of the mechanicum ones, for a minimum on background knowledge. As this is quiiiitttteeeeeee far into the overarching 40k universe.

Best Audiobook so far!

A great story that gives a little insight of the big picture in the 40k verse. John Banks did an amazing job reading it. So far the best audiobook I’ve got.

A great background book

How to Unmary Sue a Mary Sue. The background from Belisarius Cawl comes to make sense in light of the given background that was severely lacking in the 8th edition rulebook. Though I don't like how they retconned the implications that the Pharos is not a construct of the old ones. All in all a great book that I can only recommend but read first the Dark Imperium and Dark Imperium Plauge Wars first to make more sense of the book.
