Geschrieben in den 80ern, hört sich die Story an, als stamme sie aus den frühen 50ern.
Dutzende Arten Allens, Technologie, die mehr auf Phantasie als Wissenschaft beruht. Von SciFi aus den 80ern erwartet man anderes. Wenn man diese Erwartung über Bord wirft, dann bekommt man eine unterhaltsame Story mit ein paar überraschenden Wendungen und leider auch ein paar langatmigen Passagen. Eben typische 50er Jahre Space Opera.

I was first introduced to the universe of uplift by David Brynn by listening to the follow-up to this book started rising. I enjoyed that one a lot and hence I decided to start with the first book which is this one. it was absolutely pleasant listening experience and I'm going to continue with the third part of the series. very much looking forward to it. the spoken performance is soothing and nice suited well for a bedtime mode as well as commuting to work. yes, overall very nice
