The events could have unfolded notbonly in weeks and cities, but decades and nations. The authos missed a chance of real world-building.

Mildly entertaining, but not on the level ot the authors other books.

If you're familiar with the genre then you'll probably be able to pick up on where the story might be headed. It's no worse for that - there's a certain gleefull anticipation knowing that the other shoe must drop sooner or later. this is a self-contained story, but I think it (much like the Bobby verse) has the potential for a series.

Tolle und amüsante Geschichte

Another classic Taylor. Smart, funny hard sci-fi with a surprisingly relevant and entertaining storyline.
But if you're into sci-fi and familiar with Dennis E. Taylor’s books, you’ll probably see where it’s going after about 20% in.
The "big twist" is teased so heavily, you can spot it coming from a mile away — by the halfway point, you could basically write the rest yourself. So, unfortunately, minus two stars for the predictable plot.

Ray Porter, as always, totally nails the narration.

The team-up Denni E. Taylor / Ray Porter never disappoints. The story is well written and at times reminiscent of other DET works, which I appreciated. The investigative angle is also well-developed.

Unfortunately [SPOILER ALERT] it is also extremely predictable: the moment you are told that Philipp‘s company is working on a space probe, you just know the AI is fixing to rush the development and leave the Earth behind. In the same way, when characters only appear on Zoom-like calls, it is unavoidable to think they are the AI posing as humans. This is well executed for detective Shankar, but quite clumsy when it comes to to the executive of Crab Investments.

All in all, FlyBot is an enjoyable audiobook, but far from DET‘s best work.
