When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on.

What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda, and they're in trouble.

It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society who's found their way to the alternate world. Others have, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die.

Love John Scalzis work Overall and did enjoy to this one. It’s light and just entertaining and it’s read very well. A pleasure to listen to. So yeah, I do recommend it.

This was my first John Scalzi Book and I loved it. Wonderful, funny characters, great dialogs, gripping - yet a little forseeable - plot.

Scalzi is an incredible and nuanced science fiction author who has always had the ability to combine the light-hearted with the serious. This short novel of his is decidedly on the light-hearted side, if for some serious reasons which shine through every now and A short and sweet story to Kaiju full of nerdy references, clever ideas and fun details.

Wil Wheaton's absolutely excellent narration completes the picture.

WW's overacting strangely resonates with this work. The story is shallow but fun. It's what you would make up with your nerdy friends during lunch break. Why, it has nuclear powered monsters on alt earth that need preservation. Because: Why not!

Yet again, Scalzi doesn't disappoint. I don't think many other authors could make such an absurd premise work, but he does. It's fantastic as always, and I love that Wil Wheaton performs so many of Scalzi's books. It was a real pleasure and I will certainly listen again.
