After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim.

Jim has been given an opportunity, and he'll do his best to take advantage of it.

Kurz-gefasst:
Jim stirbt, erwacht mit unfairem, allmächtigem Special in seinem Charakterblatt in einer Zwischenwelt und kann dadurch mehr als alle anderen sobald er auf die neue Welt hinabstürzt.
Zum Abrunden noch einen zynischen Dämonen zur Seite gestellt und schon hat man eine kurzweilige Geschichte voller waghalsiger Aktionen (er kann sich’s ja leisten), die ihn zum Herren über ein kleines Dorf macht, das es nun mit Leuten zu füllen gilt.
Ich fand’s überraschend gut.

The underlying story was fairly decent, but there was too much focus on stats and game mechanics, and too little story for my taste, even for LitRPG. Also the main character is a bit of a lone manly man hero (even when he is not alone). I nearly abandonned this book halfway through, but gave it it another chance and it got better in the last third of the book. It also had some funny parts throughout the book, so that was a plus. Will be listening to the next book, hoping that with the foundation set now there might be more empasis on the story and human interaction.

Would still recommend this book if the synopsis sounds interesting to you and you want a fairly simple story to listen too while doing something else.

Der Sprecher passt hervorragend zum Inhalt, es wurde hier eine absolut perfekte Wahl getroffen. Der Inhalt ist ebenfalls gut umgesetzt und spannend, definitiv empfehlenswert.

I got this today and also gave it back today mainly for two reasons. I didn't like the performer and I didn't like the writing style and the basic idea behind it all.

I like the exploring part behind litrpg quite a bit. The author of this book gives you quitr a heads up about what is going to happen, who is who and a broad exposition of what is what in talking in between two of the characters.

And well, I didn't like what I heard, literally and figuratively

Very good narrator, but overall very boring story. Nothing new or innovative, always the same lame joke about his name. Much better alternatives out there in this genre!

cool story, especially if you are into DnD or the like, but the rules and technicalities of the system are explained in way too much detail all throughout the book. Really makes it hard to stay engaged with the story.

Starts pretty good. A nice setup and good detailed rules (though detailed stats were a bit too much early on, but it got better).

Where it falls apart is the end, where the protagonist somehow acts suicidal and idiotic, and survives, not because he is smart or ridiculous overpowered (he is, but only slightly more powerful than a group of 3 low level adventures), but by being lucky, time after time, and even after recognizing this, his first and final instinct is to run towards overwhelming odds, because they wouldn't expect him to be that stupid.. "Who would want a superhero defeating overwhelming odds by being smart or powerful when he can just be lucky??
