good story bad story telling

The story is interesting and the setting has quite some potential. The characters are varied and not too shallow. The main character walks along a dangerous path of being not likeable at all, but slowly comes around. Unfortunately the author is not very good at story telling. For the most part the book consists of very short and simple sentences that are put together by brute force which makes it hard to enjoy the book.

This is not a Hero story!!!

Most people will have a problem with the MC. But only because we expect the MC to be relatable and like most other stories. I think a important information is that the MC is a narcissistic psychopath! The author does a great job by writing like I imagine one to be. There is more focus on the internal egocentric workings of the MC than the story. The offset of the focus is a interesting stylistic device, but it made it a bit hard for me to follow the story. Besides that I thinks it's worth listening to it. The story doesn't give you the typical power fantasy that makes you feel good but makes you second guess and teaches you about different mindsets. While listening I was Psychoanalysing the characters as much as thinking about the magic system. All together I was very Interesting and kinda fun to not get what I expected but I think people should be warned because it can be very frustrating if you are not okay with the MC.

Interesting setup, good VA, boring and subpar writing

Descriptions and reviews sounded interesting despite the warnings. 25% in and I find myself checking more opinions on this story and looking for other entertainment. Allegedly, the book's everything will improve further on, but I am bored now and my patience is spent.

Interessante Charakter

Eine eher realistische und nicht romantische Geschichte. Was passiert, wenn jemand in Lebensgefahr gerät und nicht altruistisch veranlagt ist. Nicht für jeden, da eben kein Alltagsbrei

mc is something special. i was addicted to the book, after some getting used to the concept. i recommend strongly.

Interesting Arc

so i dont get the people who give 2 Stars and say Bad Story because of psychotic Protagonist. i think they Just dont know what an Arc is and havent listened past the First hour. Sure the Guy Starts Out really really anti social and towards the end of book one Not That much hast changed, but i do See very suttle hints, That He is changing His Mind on certain topics. dont want to Spoiler too much.

it does seem way more realistic than allot of other litrpg books, since it uses topics Like self preservation and such.

i liked this book allot and the speaker does quite a good Job at impersonating different
characters. definitly getting book two.

Cool story with exciting abilities

Nice progression with interesting twists and reasonable characters. Im excited for the next part. I can only recommend it.

Clear recommendation!

Don't be put off by the reviews about the MC's character.
It's true that the MC is a psychopathic jerk. He's cold, rational, distrustful, and very selfish.
However, this lack of moral sense is humorously described and is part of the character development (with little change in the first book).
I always prefer a cold, rational MC over a naive, hopelessly optimistic one who never thinks about their own well-being.
The MC is in a HELL DIFFICULTY tutorial and does whatever it takes to gain control and survive.

The book was highly entertaining, and I absolutely recommend it!

A good spin on LitRPG

Its fun. The MC is a literall psycho which makes for a fun experience. If you have an issue with edgy shit then this is not for you. Otherwise its quite entertaining. Not the reinventing the wheel but a different approach to it.

Unlikable Main Character

The premise of the story has huge potential, however I could't finish the book because of how unlikable the MC was.
For instance quite early on the the MC is tempted to kill the other humans stranded with him for their XP.
Son after he thinks about killing a child. It could be that the MC shows character development in later chapters but I didn't make it this far.
