Über diesen Titel

In the hellish sprawl of Imperial Terra, Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Erasmus Crowl serves as a stalwart and vigilant protector, for even the Throneworld is not immune to the predations of its enemies. In the course of his Emperor-sworn duty, Crowl becomes embroiled in a dark conspiracy, one that leads all the way to the halls of the Imperial Palace.

As he plunges deeper into the shadowy underbelly of the many palace districts, his investigation attracts the attention of hidden forces, and soon he and his acolyte Spinoza are being hunted - by heretics, xenos, servants of the Dark Powers, or perhaps even rival elements of the Inquisition itself. Soon they discover a terrible truth, one that if allowed to get out could undermine the very fabric of the Imperium itself.

Decent story, some good and some mediocre characters. Excellent narration. Immersive description of Terra and the inner workings of the Imperium.

Good narration, decent story

Can recommend this one! Characters are interesting, world building is well done and the story is not too complex but still engaging. The narrator also does a good job!

Good listen if you like Inquisition stories

Ein solides Hörbuch, für alle, welche mal eine etwas weniger geradlinige Story im Warhammeruniversum suchen.

Guter Specher

Interesting characters, well fleshed out, a storyline that runs a not unusual arc but still keeps you gripped and guessing. Highly recommended.

Same same but different

Inquisitorial investigation at the heart of the story wasn't well paced, bit boring in the middle, then got real crazy (in awesome way) towards the end, but bit too late. Most awesome bit in the book, the motivation and coconspirators of the underlying plot, is revealed at the end too little too late, leaving you frustrated - I read about all the archival work and apartment building hallways when I could have been reading about this instead?? More breadcrumbs earlier would have helped, stakes remain unclear for too long. Instead lots of legwork described that's just not very cool or interesting.

Descriptions of environments a bit too much at times. Valiant effort to create atmosphere but ends up repetitive or describing stuff in excruciating detail that should have been partially sketched, partially left to imagination.

Couldn't get emotionally invested in the viewpoint characters, stayed a bit flat, no real sense of danger either.

Fight scenes lack physicality, feels like Broadway musical with gangs charging and then emoting at each other. Huge hordes and giant monsters charge the heroes and then kinda seem to pause and mill about instead of smashing into them. Just a bit awkward and vague and off.

Overall saw a lot of potential but wouldn't quite recommend it to someone else.

Very cool at times, but
