Über diesen Titel

Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel. Read by William Hope, Christopher Ragland, Andy Secombe, Charlie Anson, Eric Meyers, Laurel Lefkow, Liza Ross, William Hope, Adna Sablyich and Katharine Mangold.

Deadwood, USA. A girl sneaks out just before dark to ride her new bike. Suddenly the ground disappears beneath her. Waking up at the bottom of a deep pit, she sees an emergency rescue team above her. The people looking down see something far stranger....

We always look forward. We never look back.

That girl grows up to be Dr. Rose Franklin, a brilliant scientist and the leading world expert on what she discovered. An enormous, ornate hand made of an exceptionally rare metal which predates all human civilisation on the continent.

But this thing...it's different. It challenges us. It rewrites history.

An object whose origins and purpose are perhaps the greatest mystery humanity has ever faced. Solving the secret of where it came from - and how many more parts may be out there - could change life as we know it.

It dares us to question what we know about ourselves.

But what if we were meant to find it? And what happens when this vast, global puzzle is complete?

About everything.

Beschreibung von Audible

"Reminiscent of The Martian and World War Z, this is a luminous conspiracy yarn that shoots for (and lands among) the stars." (Pierce Brown, author of Red Rising)

the narrative style and especially the way this is red in this audiobook is completely new to me and I have read a lot of books and listen to some audiobooks. for that alone is worth listening to. the story line is is partially very interesting but sometimes feels a bit weak. still a must read for anyone interested in novel literature.

intriguing narrative style, somehow weak plot

So good! The voices are all so good! I don't think I would have enjoyed this as much if I solely read it. Listening AND reading was awesome because after a while you know how the characters sound and hear then even while reading...

Awesome!

Hab angefangen und werde es jetzt wieder erstatten. Der Erzählstil ist mir zu nebensächlich und langatmig.

Zu langatmig

I usually dislike audiobooks but this was awesome!! I cannot wait to listen to the other books!

The story sounds interesting at first but is told in a rather boring way. It consists mostly of some kind of interviews and reports and is spoken in a slow and confusing manner.

Starting a chapter with a scream is OK in a book. Doing so in an audio book should be a crime. Thankfully I have a good grip on myself or I'm pretty sure I would've driven into a lamp post.

Now that we got that out of the way: I didn't really mind the compartmentalized way the story is told by the use of interviews. At first I was really interested because it felt like the person from whose perspective much of the story is told used intrigue and tactic to further their goal. The book kept me listening by throwing up some interesting questions about morality. But it amounts to nothing and in the end I have no recollection of what this book was about beside the obvious which I won't spoiler.

That and that bloody scream.

Cumbersome
