Beschreibung von Audible

Our species has only roamed the Earth for 200,000 years — but in that time, we’ve done more to change the face of the planet than any other creature in existence. In his provocative best-selling work Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari takes listeners on a journey through the history of mankind, from the Stone Age to today.

Over the course of this un-pausable audiobook, Harari examines how each generation of humanity left its mark on the planet - and how we’re still changing our world as each day passes.

Audie Award-winning English voice actor Derek Perkins skilfully navigates this thorough, research-driven work, setting the perfect tone for this riveting audiobook with his deep, intellectual delivery.

To put it simply in the words of one listener: 'Prepare to have your mind blown'.

Kritikerstimmen

"It tackles the biggest questions of history and of the modern world, and it is written in unforgettably vivid language. You will love it!" (Jared Diamond, author of Guns, Germs and Steel)
" Sapiens is the sort of book that sweeps the cobwebs out of your brain. Its author, Yuval Noah Harari, is a young Israeli academic and an intellectual acrobat whose logical leaps have you gasping with admiration... Harari's writing radiates power and clarity, making the world strange and new." ( The Sunday Times)
"I would recommend Sapiens to anyone who's interested in the history and future of our species." (Bill Gates)

Great Book

I have to admit that the preview chapter was not making me curious. It sounded too much like from my biology book. But the recommendation like from Bill Gates let me start listening. And it was worthy.
A great overview from the Big Bang to today and the development of humankind; many theories and this all packed in a wonderful language. I learned a lot.
A must read. For everyone who is interested in more than the schedule of today's TV program.

Incredible!

Linking the narratives and developments of 70000 years is an incredible challenge. Listen to this. It is a masterful presentation of human intellect. Full of doubts and bold believes, full of reason and ingenuity, full of contradiction and interpretation. Convincing, mind expanding and truly inspiring like humans themselves. A fantastic piece of art and science.

Superficial and not objective

A few good ideas and interesting parallels are drowned in polarised discussion and common cliches. It is a superficial reading, filled with controversial facts and unsupported conclusions. The book is more a subjective view of the author as a history of a mankind.

Very entertaining but the facts are not always accurate. The book is an excellent discussion-starter.

History beyond the availability bias

The book lives more from the originality of its ideas than from the depth of the arguments, but incorporates successfully the latest findings in archeology, economics and other fields of science into a coherent theory about the past and future of homo sapiens. As a result and also thanks to the fluent narration the book can distance itself from the masses of new publications and comes with a guarantee of new insights for all but a few exceptional homo sapiens.

Also Mensch = Mensch,

Best read ever!

If I had to choose one book to take to the proverbial island, it would definitely be Harari’s Sapiens...

Sehr gutes Buch!
