The gods have set forth in motion five Calamities for the inhabitants of the Other World, and only by enduring them will mankind be allowed to live on.
The leaders of the Other World do not believe in the possibility of triumph against the will of the gods, and instead squander their time indulging in their desires while the world rots away around them. Sungchul Kim, the man who reached the pinnacle of strength, now stands alone against the Calamities. Not because he is a hero, but because of a promise.
Reaching the Demon King’s palace, Sungchul soon realizes his shortcomings. He failed to resolve the first Calamity due to his inability to wield Magic. He is forced to journey in secret, hiding his identity and strength to steal the knowledge of Magic from the very people who branded him as the Enemy of the World. However, to do so, he must hide among the weakest group of people in the Other World: the newly arrived humans from his homeworld, Earth.

Decent enough
Pretty decent. Not amazing, not addicting but not bad. Just nothing special. I liked that it's a different and unique character for a change

Classical Asian LitRPG book
Impotent, unsocial, misunderstood ‘goodOfWar’-guy with uncanny learning abilities does whatever he wants... I imagine a guy writing this book in an isolated flat after playing games for weeks with no social interaction beyond calling the catering-service - by setting himself in a world where everyone is a monster focussed on destroying the world (directly or by having despaired + acting irrationally and self-centred). Only the main char hasn’t given up and does everything he needs to do to save the world - even the really tough choices that make him really really unpopular. Social contacts drag him down... you get the drift.
I assume a lot was lost through translation- still, this book was meant for easy entertainment and not anything too deep: read this book of you want to experience a hurt man getting his way.

Its okay i guess
The MC is of course OP and does a horrible Job of hiding it.
I was looking forward to see him actually fail on purpose until its necessary to show his true Power and talk his way out of mistakes. Or something like that.
However he just makes everything work as planned.
The storyline is way too predictable because of that. I probably won't buy the sequels once they are released. A shame since i really like the setting overall.
The Narrator does a fantastic Job though and manages to make it enjoyable at times despite the lackluster writing.

Sehr guter Sprecher
Der Erzähler Nick Podehl bringt wirklich Stimmung mit und ohne ihn hätte ich das Hörbuch wahrscheinlich auch am Anfang abgebrochen, die Story kommt nur sehr langsam und die Gänge und für den ungeübten Europäer sind insbesondere die koreanischen Namen am Anfang etwas verwirrend, sodass man nicht wirklich weiß wer hier gerade gemeint ist, sobald man allerdings drin ist, fesselt die Geschichte dann einen doch und ich werde wahrscheinlich auch das nächste Hörbuch anhören.
