In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. Undeterred, the sleep-deprived overlord is ready to confront this brave new world. After all, no aspiring deity, no grandiose sect, and certainly no self-righteous martial artist is going to rob him of his beauty sleep.

bones and cookies and magic!
this was an absolute delight to listen to - i put it on my shelf for "to listen to in times when live kicks you in the bones and there are no more cookies in the kitchen".

Not too much weight on Litrpg
In most books of this genre I dislike the endless talk of levels, without a logical connection. This book is mostly a funny story with just occasional mentioning of levels. And there is a convincing explanation for the levels system. So I really enjoyed the book. It's not Shakespeare, but very enjoyable. 😁

Curious Mix of Cultures
The plot was solid and the narration a work of art, but the setting could have used a little more research. It took me a good minute to figure out why the Gods were "commis" - I initially interpreted this to mean communist, until I realized they were talking about kami, the Japanese word for deity.
Given that this took place on a continent of cultivators with names like Ruo Lan and Fen Feng, that's a bit curious. I don't expect people to pronounce these names correctly - if someone pronouncing the a in lan as they would the a in age upsets you, this audiobook is not for you - but I would expect the author to know the difference between Japanese and Chinese. Really, he could just call them deities, there is no reason to use the word "kamis".
Additionally, be warned that the protagonist has a great distaste for cultivators, and they act like idiots throughout the book, so perhaps he is right. Those people lack depth. As does "cultivation". The picture this book paints is more akin to a child's scraggly 2D scribbles than to the intricate system that is Daoist cultivation.
Fortunately, I wasn't expecting it to. It's clearly a parody, a childish one, but a parody nonetheless.
All criticisms aside, I think I will likely listen to the next book some day. The plot is decent enough to keep you entertained and awake. Perfect for a long drive or wake.

fun story, enhanced by soundbooth theaters work
I really love their work, I only hear audiobooks made by them nowadays, Cant go back to just "normal" audiobooks. story is great as well :)

Lovely cooky recipe at the end
Sadly, that recipe wasn't translated into necro-units or SI-units - or anything relevant - Just the country with the imperial system still uses Fahrenheit afaik :(
Otherwise, brilliantly told book in Ravensdaggers usual quality - and there is character growth :)

Fantastic first book
I gotta say this first entry of the Dead Tired Series is absolutely fantastic. JTJ and the whole SBT cast outdid themselves with their performance. So anyone who is interested in a good and funny story, where the protagonist is overpowered from the beginning, should give it a try. Can’t wait for the second entry :)

Amazing
Love the energy of the narrators. Made me realize how used I've gotten to drab matter of fact narration in my audiobooks

a skeleton of fun
Love the wordplay, great voice for the characters and use of background sounds. Main characters have great voice acters doing their work.
