Schon wieder eine schräge Utopie von Fjjorde. Die Regeln und Hierarchie der Post-Apokalyptischen Welt spiegelt man seltsame Denkweisen der heutigen Welt wider. Sehr gut umgesetzt durch den Sprecher.

This is the story of Edward Russet, a young man on the verge of becoming a full member of society; a society which works along strict rules and makes sure everyone stays in their place and act according to their role.
So far this might seem like a story you have read or listened to a hundred times. But believe me: It‘s not!
Edward stumbles into a series of events which he at first isn‘t able to control. Bit by bit Edward learns about the secrets of the world he lives in and comes to question his understanding of the world. Why are people sent for reboot to Emerald City on the night train? Why is an Apocryphal Man living in Edward’s attic? Who is the second secret lodger in his house? Why is it prohibited to produce any more spoons?
The characters really come to life in this audio book - and I love to hear my favourite author‘s voice as well.

I generally like Fforde's books and this one is no exception. While pretty dystopian, it is so witty and ironic that it's still an easy read (or listen, really). I love Fforde's originality - he paints a picture of a different world (this one based on colour) unlike any I've ever read about. The story starts of somewhat slow, but since I enjoyed the world building so much, I didn't mind. However, if you are you looking for fast-paced action, it's definitely not for you. I also enjoyed the narrator's performance! He brings out the dry humour perfectly.

Jane Eyre 1984, brilliant story, go for it.
Such a pitty the title name got overshadowed...

Fantastic world building, a truly dystopic society, suspence-loaded until the end. Loved it! I am afraid of book 3 because book 2 wrapped it up so nicely.

Der "Klappentext" las sich super. ich habe es aber nicht geschafft, das Buch zu Ende zu hören. Ich komme einfach nicht in die Geschichte rein.
Genau genommen kann ich einfach nicht folgen, um was es überhaupt geht.
Ich bin mir nicht mal sicher, ob es an der Geschichte liegt, oder am Sprecher
