I really loved this fantasy story with an artist as protagonist. It had a thrilling storyline with quite some unexpected plot twists and lovable characters. A book that contains dragons, art and queer characters, what can you want more?

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es in ein paar Minuten noch einmal.
I picked this one up as an experiment in fantasy reading. I consider the story to be kind of naive and contrived a bit. Characters are a bit flat, the focus is on the world building here. The core idea: that art can be used to fight a war is interesting. I also couldn't stop thinking that this story is a reflection of Chinese/Korean view on local geopolitics vs. US/European influences. After all, it's open about it, although the real intent of the novel remains hidden (does this have sequels? not that I am going to read them anyway). The book had an interesting effect on me: I noticed it wasn't the greatest type of literature I encountered early on, but it was written well enough to keep me interested to see it through to the end, despite it's shortcomings. Edgy experience there. I'd describe it as a Netflix series: not really outstanding or anyhow memorable, but does not offend on a Tuesday evening on a sofa. Your own mileage may vary.
