Stephen's god died on the longest day of the year....

Three years later, Stephen is a broken paladin, living only for the chance to be useful before he dies. But all that changes when he encounters a fugitive named Grace in an alley and witnesses an assassination attempt gone wrong. Now the pair must navigate a web of treachery, beset on all sides by spies and poisoners, while a cryptic killer stalks one step behind....

From the Hugo and Nebula Award-winning author of Swordheart and The Twisted Ones comes a saga of murder, magic, and love on the far side of despair.

Super Erzähler mit sehr schöner Simme. Die Handlung ist spannend mit einer love story zum Mitfiebern und die Charaktere haben viel Witz und Herzenswärme.

Packend

The story is not so much about an intricate plot and action as it is about Grace and Stevens romance and them coming to terms with their own difficult pasts and problems. It can feels a bit slow at times but is definitely an enjoyable and heartwarming listen.

Interesting characters-Wholesome romance

it's not over decades spanning, nor about toppling evil Regimes. it's about a broken man and an anxiety ridden woman. Refreshing in its focus on the characters and the small struggles to which we can all much more relate than the "Big Stories". This satisfies in a much smaller, much more human scale, so to speak.
Without being cheesy, one might compare it like cosy crime to a Thriller perhaps. I really enjoyed this break from world -saving Fantasy.

another nice one
