amazing storytelling and great to listen to!
such a great story and amazing storytelling by Noah. this book does deal with domestic violence, so whilst it is amazing, it could be triggering for some people. All in all, a must read if you can.

Respect for Trevor
Seeing the successful Trevor on the daily show now, and having learnt about his past from the book, I now have tremendous respect for him! I sometimes found the story to be a little meandering, but overall was interesting.

Absolutely remarkable
I am amazed by the similarities of a childhood in the developing world. I recognize this world and I appreciate someone with the grace and courage to tell it in a self-aware and genteel manner. Commonwealth life... decolonization. These stories inform me more about the human spirit than anything else.

What an admirable human and what an amazing book!
This is by far the best audio book I've listened to. For once, I would strongly recommend an audio book over its paper twin - - the masterful performance added up to the gripping, masterfully written storyline. I love Trevor and I've grown to love his mom who raised a kind, humane, caring, feminist son, a person who's truly an inspiration and a role model to look up to.

Super
Trevor Noah explains his own childhood through his eyes nowadays as well as back then, Therefore the reader gain knowledge how it was to life under the apartheid system in South Africa. Nevertheless, it is told humorously which makes the story quite entertaining and not only frustrating.
