    Inhaltsangabe

Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable and beautifully told story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Raised in the same household and sharing the same wet nurse, Amir and Hassan grow up in different worlds: Amir is the son of a prominent and wealthy man, while Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant, is a Hazara - a shunned ethnic minority. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them. When Amir and his father flee the country for a new life in California, Amir thinks that he has escaped his past. And yet he cannot leave the memory of Hassan behind him.

The Kite Runner is a novel about friendship and betrayal, and about the price of loyalty. It is about the bonds between fathers and sons, and the power of fathers over sons - their love, their sacrifices, and their lies. Written against a backdrop of history that has not been told in fiction before, The Kite Runner describes the rich culture and beauty of a land in the process of being destroyed. But through the devastation, Khaled Hosseini offers hope for redemption.

Most shaking story I have ever heard.

Khaleed, he is the most gifted story teller. Loved it. After separating I was thinking how will Hasan and Emir react after meeting when they were grown up. But it never happened and this fact always haunted me.

Great writing, great narration and great setting

The writing and narration by Khaled Hosseini is simply amazing. The first half of the book thats set in Kabul quite literally transports you to the Afghanistan of the 70s. Its a very eye opening and honest introduction to the Afghan culture and how it got rattled in the 80s.

In terms of the story, I felt at times it tried to be more dramatic than necessary, specially in the second half. But overall, I loved the book and look forward to reading the other books from Mr Hosseini.

Ultimately, Khaled's message is clear: Zendegi Migzarah, Life goes on!

    Tear inducing story

Brilliantly written and read. The reader/writer created very detailed, beautiful scenery, and clearly linked throughout time and across generations. Warning: there are graphic scenes described in a couple of places. If you have a weak stomach, you might want to skip them.

    life in Afghanistan

This audio book is expertly read by the author himself which made it even more authentic for me. The story is touching, warm and sad at the same time. I found it interesting because apart from the great story line, it provided me with a lot of insight about life and growing up in Afghanistan. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Kiterunner!
