I read the web novel ages ago on wuxia world, when chapter 30 was just put up.
I loved it then.


Only bad thing found yet, speaker is waaaaaay to fast talking. But a mellow nice voice. With distinct voice changes on characters. So slowing it down to 90% helped. Trough it now. Really enjoyed it. The voice acting slowed down at about half, so I listened to it at 95% Speed. Added one star more for the glorious voice acting for bebe xD. Exactly how I imagened the smuck rat xD.


Edit: ... i am getting the withrawl symptoms already. Reading the novel again xD. Can't wait for more ^^.

Edit2: To Note. There's alot of old style "face/pride" stuff in it and "brother" and whatnot. If you get used to it, you wont notice it later on. Story wise one needs to say. This is the typical odysee style. Character is weak, gets stronger for a goal, gets that goal. And finds another goal, caus he pissed someone off or theres someone stronger out there that wants to still be the strongest ever ... A good comparision is dragonball, story construction wise. Lots of build up, fights, calm areas. Rinse and repeat. Not that it's bad, rightfully done. It's relaxing to read or listen too.

I very much enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Esther Merriken reads a it bit fast, but it's not too fast to understand someone who is used to hearing english dialog. She puts a lot of character into her performance, I especially liked the way she portrayed all the children and teenagers in the story, of which there are a lot at this point of the series.

As the first full-length xianxia novel I read on the web, Coiling Dragon will always have a special place in my heart. The Story is very long, though its length is average for this kind of chinese novel.
The writing often makes you aware of the way writers of webnovels like this are payed by how long the chapters they write are, which is why they repeat certain terms or titles as often as they can, this can get a bit weird sometimes but being aware of this constraint of the industry, it doesn't bother me, and it's somewhat easy to get used to.
The story captures various emotional arcs like love and revenge very beautifully.

I really wish the other books in the series were made into audiobooks as well!
