For the story itself, I really like the magic system, though details are unclear. The rules seem to be somewhat muddy. At a certain point Zorian randomly claims archmage status. After all the cycles I would have liked the actual month to have more details as to what is actually happening. Zorian acquired skills by “he just learns them” and is then able to build some awesome golems. For an average guy pretty random. I miss a story behind this, it feels more like getting informed. Another thing is the actual character development. While within the cycles he improves the relation to others, in the final month this is not felt at all. Not to his sister, not to his friends and not to his parents. It would have been nice to see how his personal growth now solves his issues.
Nevertheless, it is a very detailed and interesting world with nice characters. I think it shows how much we miss out by living just living each month once and how much else there is going on. So many interactions go unspoken.
I recommend listening to the books 👍🏽
