Über diesen Titel

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER“This book delivers completely new and refreshing ideas on how to create value in the world.”—Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta

“Peter Thiel has built multiple breakthrough companies, and Zero to One shows how.”—Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla

The great secret of our time is that there are still uncharted frontiers to explore and new inventions to create. In Zero to One, legendary entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel shows how we can find singular ways to create those new things.

Thiel begins with the contrarian premise that we live in an age of technological stagnation, even if we’re too distracted by shiny mobile devices to notice. Information technology has improved rapidly, but there is no reason why progress should be limited to computers or Silicon Valley. Progress can be achieved in any industry or area of business. It comes from the most important skill that every leader must master: learning to think for yourself.

Doing what someone else already knows how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But when you do something new, you go from 0 to 1. The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. Tomorrow’s champions will not win by competing ruthlessly in today’s marketplace. They will escape competition altogether, because their businesses will be unique.

Zero to One presents at once an optimistic view of the future of progress in America and a new way of thinking about innovation: it starts by learning to ask the questions that lead you to find value in unexpected places.

Kritikerstimmen

“Crisply written, rational and practical, Zero to One should be read not just by aspiring entrepreneurs but by anyone seeking a thoughtful alternative to the current pervasive gloom about the prospects for the world.” The Economist

"An extended polemic against stagnation, convention, and uninspired thinking. What Thiel is after is the revitalization of imagination and invention writ large…." – The New Republic

"Might be the best business book I've read...Barely 200 pages long and well lit by clear prose and pithy aphorisms, Thiel has written a perfectly tweetable treatise and a relentlessly thought-provoking handbook." Derek Thompson, The Atlantic

As an entrepreneur myself, I found the book quite informative and more importantly, thought provoking.

I specially appreciated the structured layout from idea, team, distribution and scale up (just paraphrasing). They forced me think about "defining" the market for my venture and balancing the "grand vision" with pragmatic moves (strategic and/or tactical).

I am hearing it now for the 2nd time to consolidate the key lessons and insights. A great experience!!!

Concise analysis and Great Examples

Not too long, thought provoking.
Taken mostly from Peter Thiel's experience and observation in the period from the Internet bubble to 2014.

Just read it

I liked this book quite a lot. The author speaks about several very smart ideas. Though I have to admit, that there were moments, where I was thinking "typical american"! Saying, that Europeans are obsessed with holidays is truly funny. There are 52 weeks in a year. I would not call taking 4-5 weeks of holidays (9% of the year) obsession.

I also do not agree, that monopolies are the only way which allows true innovation. And that monopolies are not bad. They are not bad for the owner or a CEO of the monopoly. They are very bad for the consumers of the products produced by these monopolies. In the same time I know several companies which became monopolies and instead of being more innovative, they were extremely scared of innovation. They did not wanted to do anything which would endanger their position on the market.

But hey, what fun it would be if all the opinions voice by the author would be identical to mine :-)

Very good book & easy to listen to

First of all - it‘s very easy to get through the book. It‘s structured well, well read and very interesting. ! It in many ways contradicts what other business guru‘s say, just with more practical and experieced arguments than the opposite site. Simply great!

Very interesting - and in many cases the opposite of what „business gurus“ say

Great book. It was refreshingly short and to the point. Far too many books like this needlessly draw out their talking points but Zero to One kept me listening intently from start to finish. Can definitely recommend.

Great book - no filler

The book explains Do's and Dont's on how to start and lead a Startup. It focuses on how to think your business long-term, make it sustainable and successful. The examples describing nowadays successful business models are very important for in-depth understanding of the advices/tipps in the book.

How To be innovative in a Nutshell

Because of some rather negative reviews I hesitated before buying this book. While listening I was very surprised how good it is. Short and full of insights on how to possibly build a better future. This is NOT a „pointless rambling of a rich American“!

I recommend this book to anyone interested in Technology and Startups.

Quality of the narrator is excellent.

Surprisingly good

Das Buch verleiht Motivation, etwas Neues zu gestalten. Kann ich nur empfehlen für alle, die glaube, dass wir noch nicht am Ziel sind.

Sehr interessante Gedanken

I preferred watching some of Peter Thiel‘s videos on Youtube where he takes up some of his points mentioned in the book. He‘s definitely not a great writer and the notes seems rather a random composition of topics he has put in some thought. Some ideas are refreshing and are good food for thought.
