Inhaltsangabe

Ben Horowitz, cofounder of Andreessen Horowitz and one of Silicon Valley’s most respected and experienced entrepreneurs, offers essential advice on building and running a startup - practical wisdom for managing the toughest problems business school doesn’t cover, based on his popular ben’s blog.

While many people talk about how great it is to start a business, very few are honest about how difficult it is to run one. Ben Horowitz analyzes the problems that confront leaders every day, sharing the insights he’s gained developing, managing, selling, buying, investing in, and supervising technology companies. A lifelong rap fanatic, he amplifies business lessons with lyrics from his favorite songs, telling it straight about everything from firing friends to poaching competitors, cultivating and sustaining a CEO mentality to knowing the right time to cash in.

Filled with his trademark humor and straight talk, The Hard Thing About Hard Things is invaluable for veteran entrepreneurs as well as those aspiring to their own new ventures, drawing from Horowitz’s personal and often humbling experiences.

Nice Book

It really is a nice book but it tells the same story or principles over and over again. Still worth buying and worth reading or listening to.
Enjoy

Am I the only one struggling?

The combination of personal experiences and theoretic insights makes this book truly outstanding. Some of the discussed topics are not yet relevant to my company or me, but I like the idea of growing into this book.

Great answers to rel life questions

I like this book very much. It discusses and demonstrate the mindset for success. It teaches, to have an idea and to exercise until success it there (or the failure is happened and the lesson is learned from it). This is very valuable in a time, where PC is the most admired public and social behavior (but it would never lead you to a worthy goal). It's never easy to make hard decisions but it is the only way to advance.
Ben Horowitz is a excellent teacher and his story is great learning material.
Every "to be future" leader can benefit a lot from this book.
Thanks Ben

You can skip thisone

Too much self gratification - oh I’m such a great leader and clever guy. Not much breakthrough and insightful content. Read more like a biography

Für (zukünftige) Gründer und Manger genial

Viele seiner Weisheiten sind primär nur relevant wenn man ebenfalls Gründen möchte oder bereits hat. Dafür sind viele Erkenntnisse umso mehr wertvoll.

Wish I had had these lessons earlier!

Nice mix of leadership, authenticity and company building advice - including catchy quotes such as "shy children don't get any sweets". There's a lot of good and sometimes funny examples and the audiobook is well-read too. 5 stars!

Interesting to listen to for business owners, but more relevant to those at executive level.
