this book is great in every aspect. Lots of lessons and golden nuggets and all from experience. I like the way that it shows the journey from beginning to getting to the other side.

This book describes in great detail what emotional turmoil one undergoes once he is picking up the role of the Leader of a company. Especially great about his insights are his differentiation between a peace and a war time CEO. It describes perfectly the versatility a modern leader has to bring to the table in order to successfully overcome the different challenges of modern business life.

Must read for any Leader

The combination of personal experiences and theoretic insights makes this book truly outstanding. Some of the discussed topics are not yet relevant to my company or me, but I like the idea of growing into this book.

If you like watered down management theory or uplifting motivational chapters - keep looking. This books slams you with hard truths and shows you how to not be paralyzed when there is no right way of doing things. I love how it challenges you to step up and deal with things even when there seems to be no way out

Ben Horowitz recounted his tough journey through the often misunderstood technology world of Silicon Valley. Though many startup books give you a inside how to build a business that works and how to do things wright from the beginning, his book doesn't. No Author wants to tell young people what it means to build up an organization from scratch and to sacrifice your personal life, risk your carrier and your health. The Hard Thing about Hard Things depicts real-life stories e.g. What to do when everything is going wrong, what decisions to take when there are just no good answers out the tunnel, how to fire people in your organization. If you what to build greatness you have to be prepare to fight and survive, one day after the other.

For every person and team out there which feels the need to make a major contribution to the world and want to build something. Read and absorb the advice from Ben since there are no silver bullets to success and there are major challenges to be solved in Oder to get to the top.

Nice mix of leadership, authenticity and company building advice - including catchy quotes such as "shy children don't get any sweets". There's a lot of good and sometimes funny examples and the audiobook is well-read too. 5 stars!

Viele seiner Weisheiten sind primär nur relevant wenn man ebenfalls Gründen möchte oder bereits hat. Dafür sind viele Erkenntnisse umso mehr wertvoll.
