From the legendary vice-chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, lessons in investment strategy, philanthropy, and living a rational and ethical life.

"Spend each day trying to be a little wiser than you were when you woke up," Charles T. Munger advises in Poor Charlie’s Almanack. Originally published in 2005, this compendium of 11 talks, delivered by the legendary Berkshire Hathaway vice-chairman between 1986 and 2007, has become a touchstone for a generation of investors and entrepreneurs seeking to absorb the enduring wit and wisdom of one of the great minds of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Edited by Peter D. Kaufman, chairman and CEO of Glenair and longtime friend of Charlie Munger—whom he calls “this generation’s answer to Benjamin Franklin”—this abridged Stripe Press edition of Poor Charlie’s Almanack features a brand-new foreword by Stripe cofounder John Collison.

Poor Charlie’s Almanack draws on Munger’s encyclopedic knowledge of business, finance, history, philosophy, physics, and ethics—and more besides—to introduce the latticework of mental models that underpin his rational and rigorous approach to life, learning, and decision-making. Delivered with Munger’s characteristic sharp wit and rhetorical flair, it is an essential volume for any listener seeking to go to bed a little wiser than when they woke up.

I liked this book, there are speaches where mister Munger adresses various topics in business combined with his own rules how to deal with it. He uses physics, psychology, mathematics and more. I liked the book, great time to listen to it.

great book and loads of wisdom.

The thirst 3 chapters weren’t all too interesting but when you get to his speeches the book becomes worth every penny you paid for it. The speaker mimics Munger perfectly and sometimes I even forgot that this isn’t even Munger speaking. This audiobook version is really a great thing to have.

I really loved Charlies speeches and especially enjoyed the third one

The title! You get pearls of wisdom and life’s advice, and while some anecdotes have layers to them, I think it is straight on point and witty at the same time. I find this very helpful and I will surely listen and revisit a couple times more.

It’s Munger, what’s not to love?

I expected that book will talk more about investing and compounding, but it's more about psychology research, in my opinion even more impressive part of life of this legend.

Not what I expected

I struggled to get into this audiobook due to the narrator’s style.
I would recommend buying the physical book.

Poor narration
