the main story itself is very intriguing in my opinion. a story that has been told many times in many different ways. but nonetheless has always been very interesting.
the speaker isn't as good as the German counterpart but still better than most.

the only downside for me is, that there were too many references to things I've never heard of. but that's a personal issue.

Der Roman ist nicht so gut wie der erste Teil. Dies hat viele Gründe und daran kann auch nicht der gelungene Kunstgriff etwas ändern, dass dieses Mal die zweiten Spieler, die anderen Figuren zentrale Rollen spielen. Ja, sogar für das Ende notwendig sind, weil es eine Coop-Mission/Level gibt. Es rettet das Buch auch nicht, dass die Bezüge dieses Mal viel populärer sind. Bei weitem nicht so obskur, aber eben auch so genial, wie im ersten Teil – Wo man nachschlägt, was es ist und es feiert, wenn man es kennt.
Vielmehr geschieht alles mit der zentralen Figur und er steht in weiten Teilen als Idiot da. Die Funktionsfiguren müssen ihm helfen. Aber es bleibt seine Geschichte, nicht die Geschichte der zweiten Spieler. Auch geschieht alles abrupt und es bleibt keine Zeit für Entwicklung. Schließlich bleibt auch das Potential der neuen Figuren ungenutzt. Sie dürfen am Ende nur die „Hilfsarbeiten machen“. So werden alle Figuren erniedrigt.
Es wäre fantastisch, wenn der Kunstgriff funktioniert hätte, vielleicht lohnt es sich das Buch für dieses Potential – für diese Fantasie – zu lesen.

yes, the story is a bit predictable. I still live the story and its ending. I still live the nerdiness even though I do see the weaknesses in the story itself.

Ready player two is just like ready player one: A nerdfest of popculture and it should be seen and consumed like this. With that in mind I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Wenn ein zweiter Teil eines so grandiösen Werkes rauskommt ist man immer skeptisch, aber Ernest hat absolut geliefert! Die Story ist spannend, abwechslungsreich und steht dem ersten Teil in nichts nach. Absolut empfehlenswert.
