    Inhaltsangabe

The propulsive, shockingly plausible sequel to New York Times best seller Daemon.

In one of the most buzzed-about debuts, Daniel Suarez introduced a terrifying vision of a new world order, controlled by the Daemon, an insidious computer program unleashed by a hi-tech wunderkind. Daemon captured the attention of the tech community, became a New York Times and Indie best seller, and left listeners hungry for more. Well, more is here, and it's even more gripping than its predecessor.

In the opening chapters of Freedom, the Daemon is firmly in control, using an expanded network of real-world, dispossessed darknet operatives to tear apart civilization and rebuild it anew. Soon civil war breaks out in the American Midwest, in a brutal wave of violence that becomes known as the Corn Rebellion. Former detective Pete Sebeck, now the Daemon's most powerful - though reluctant - operative, must lead a small band of enlightened humans toward a populist movement designed to protect the new world order. But the private armies of global business are preparing to crush the Daemon once and for all.

In a world of conflicted loyalties, rapidly diminishing human power, and the possibility that anyone can be a spy, what's at stake is nothing less than human freedom's last hope to survive the technology revolution.

    An amazing story

Do not hear this book, if you have not read the first book. Although the book becomes a bit tiring at some point, it pick ups again fast.

    Exciting prolongation of TheDemon

The speaker very well staged the story by varying/disguising his voice (for different people) to keep excitement ongoing. Professional audio recording includes some background sounds&noises for same goal. only improvement would be to have all main actors their own voice/speaker to make the story even more realistic. PS: be warned of pretty intense, brutal and partly disgusting scenes (as to the original book's story)

    innovative, colourful, refined

The story is just as innovative as you would expect from high quality writer Suarez. Another proof of how much fantasy this author has. And how he masters the challenge of putting the most crazy ideas into a context that actually works. It's a pity the guy who reads the book to us sounds like a Flash Gordon commercial back in the 70's. Someone please tell him that he really doesn't have to overdo it so much. It really takes away from the pleasure. This cheap way of speaking even puts the smell of a dime novel on Suarez' great work. I can tell, because i first listened to the german version of this audiobook and it's a huge difference.

A short version of the daemon....

This is just a short version of the daemon. No new characters, no new story.
