Dan Brown verpackt die Frage nach dem Sinn des Lebens in einen Thriller, welcher sicher eine breitere Masse erreicht, als wenn er ein spirituelles Buch schreiben würde. Seine Gegenüberstellung von Wissenschaft und Glauben regt den Leser zum Nachdenken an.
Aus meiner Sicht wäre es nicht nötig gewesen, die Geschichte soweit ins Surreale abtriften zu lassen um die Message zu vermitteln. Darum "nur" 4 Punkte für die Geschichte.

After having read the 'Da Vinci Code', I thought I would give this one a try. It is a little lengthy in the beginning (like 'Da Vinci Code') but one gets really rewarded after having managed the first 50 pages. The story is quite sound and really captivating and I enjoyed it till the very end.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was an exciting story, narrating and plot. Very well researched book.

I find such stories predictable though. I knew, for example, from the first that the Vatican won’t be destroyed and the bomb will be removed just before it explodes. Langdon just doesn’t die, he survives miraculously every threat and attack. But still a great book!

Very suspenseful

This is Robert Langdon's first adventure, before the DaVinci Code and in my opinion much better than the DaVinci Code. The plot is sinister, full of suspense and fast. The whole story takes part in nearly 24 hours. Especially the audio book gives you a kind of real time feeling. The story is again an intelligent mix of science, religion, art, history and crime. The deadly scavenger hunt through Rome is more than enthralling. Additionally the audio book is very well read. Five stars for a 'page turner'.

The Perfect Mixture: History, Science and Suspense

This is perfect entertainment. Gripping story and read wonderfully by one of my all-time favorite performers, Richard Poe. (He also reads Don DeLillo‘s Underworld, the best possible combination).
