Inhaltsangabe

Honor and betrayal fuel a caste-shattering revolution in the action-packed new novel from the number one New York Times best-selling author of the Red Rising Trilogy.

Ten years after the events of Morning Star, Darrow and the Rising are battling the remaining Gold loyalist forces and are closer than ever to abolishing the color-coded caste system of Society for good. But new foes will emerge from the shadows to threaten the imperfect victory Darrow and his friends have earned. Pierce Brown expands the size and scope of his impressive Red Rising universe with new characters, enemies, and conflicts among the stars.

Not worth the credits

As much as I loved all the other parts this one is just horrible production wise.

It’s four or five narrators. A mix of male and female. Some speak very rapid. Some more slowly. The females wining especially annoyed me (Sorry but there is no other way to put it.).

As soon as you have adjusted your brain and the volume to the new narrator it changes again. Some speak super quiet and in a mumbling way. Some in a normal voice. So you are constantly adjusting the output. Having other apps e. g. navigation screaming at you.

I put it down after 8 hours. I feel very brave I have lasted that long. But no thanks. It’s just not good!

Great Book. One of the speakers is beyond terrible

Like the series before the book is full of fast action, detailed charaktes in a complex world.
All male charactes are spoken real good.

Sadly the female speaker (for the character Lyria) is so bad that i realy couldnt take it). Somehow she tryes to make the voice so heavy with emotion in every single moment that is read - even when nothing happens at all. It is extremely tiering and annoying!
I skipped every single of Lyrias chapers thereafter. Luckly this does not hurt the story much - still I can t beleave that a book this great is tortured liek this.

Bad reading makes it hard to enjoy the story

Loved the first three books, and loved the way Tim Gerard Reynolds read them. This time we have four different readers, for different viewpoint characters. Aedin Moloney makes this one almost unbearable for me. I feel bad for pointing her out like this, but her performance in this audiobook, to me at least, is just bad. She's trying incredibly hard to sound emotional and profound, but it just sounds like someone is wailing in your ears for hours.

I continued the audiobook by skipping the parts read by her. I'm not finished yet, and don't know how that will affect the coherence of the book.
Pretty disapointed with the product because of that.
Really hope they will have Tim Gerard Reynolds as the only reader again in the next book

Schade

Die Geschichte war zwar weiterhin spannend, aber hat unter den wechselnden Sprechern gelitten. Aedin Moloney's überdramatisierter Part war einfach nicht zu ertragen.

Horrible audio produktion

After 8 hours of listening to this disaster of a audio production I just wished Lydia to die just to stopp the whining of the female narrator. And the horror continues in the next part of the series…
The experience of red riding destroyed.

Great Story, but horrible Voice Acting

The Story is still great, so are most of the Audio-Narraters. BUT Aedin Moloney’s Part was horrible. The overacting Goat-like, screaming, whining voice acting was so out of place, I could hardly focus on the story. I played that part on 1,2 or even 1,5 Speed, otherwise It was unbearable. No hate against the Voice-Actor, but that performance was dreadful.

Great book, terrible audio production

The book itself is great but the changing of the narrators ruins the book, especially because the new narrators are very bad. Tim Gerard Reynolds, who narrated the previous books alone, is still great. The other narrators ruin the experience. Some are mumbling, some are over-acting, others sound boring. The biggest problem is Ephraim's narrator who is so hard to understand that I had to turn the volume to max. Extremely annoying experience overall, ruined an otherwise good book. I dread the next book of the series.

additional speakers not an improvement.

the other reviews mentioned this as well and unfortunately I can only confirm it.

Sadly, the additional speakers performances are not
on par with Tim Gerard Reynolds.
i've skipped some of the book due to this fact.

Book is great the female narrator terrible

The story is very good. Not as detailed and cohesive as the first two books perhaps but still very good. The female narrator is absolutely horrible. I skipped all the vhapters spoken by her.

Political intrigue and multiple perspectives

The first time I listened to this book, I got lost in the many voices and names and the narrative, so I can't say I enjoyed it much. But now, on relistening to the red rising series, I actually thought this book was stellar (if you pay attention). Multiple points of view give you a deeper understanding of the society and the politics are very fun to follow. I definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to how the saga continues.
