the one thing holding it back is unfortunately part of the setting, that the mc is basically one of or the strongest person in the world. for me at least the absolute overpoweredness lead to it being devoid of any tension throughout the book. the very few occasions where not everything goes according to the mc's plan its all due to him holding himself back, since if he really wanted to he could solve basically everything with snap of his fingers.
while i do enjoy a god mode cheat once in a while having it on all the time get's old rather fast though.
the author's way of putting a limit on the character is the coming apocalypse which is drawing nearer everytime the mc is using his magic (in the form of doom points)
on a positive note the side characters do have some depth, act believably for the most part. the story itself is also well done.
i rate the audiobook as a good listen,

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es in ein paar Minuten noch einmal.
Ich hatte lediglich gehofft, ein einfaches Slice-of-life Setting auf einer Farm mit etwas Magie zu bekommen, doch es hatte viel mehr zu bieten.
Unser MC ist ein stoischer, ernster Typ, welcher sich in Worten meist knapp hält und gerade aus dem Militär ausgetreten ist um in den Ruhestand zu gehen. Um sich möglichst weit von seiner Vergangenheit zu distanzieren, reist er so weit aufs Land wie es ihm möglich ist, um dort ein neues Leben als Farmer zu beginnen. Der Humor vom MC ist sehr trocken, er redet nicht um den heißen Brei herum und ist nicht naiv sondern nimmt seine Umgebung ernst, was mir persönlich sehr gefällt.
Dabei trifft er noch andere Charaktere, die ebenfalls interessant sind und eigene Geheimnisse haben. Manche von denen, die ich am Anfang nicht mochte, haben sich hinterher sogar als ganz in Ordnung rausgestellt, nachdem man mehr über sie erfuhr.
Über die Welt lernt man mit der Zeit und erhält hin und wieder kleine Einblicke in die Vergangenheit von unserem MC, welche sich jedoch stets kurz halten und den Erzählfluss nicht unterbrechen, sondern tatsächlich gut zur Geschichte beitragen. Auch hier verbergen sich manche Geheimnisse und Intrigien, welche teils der MC noch nicht mit uns geteilt hat, teils er selbst auch nicht kennt und versucht rauszufinden. Vor allem das Ende gibt uns einige Informationen und macht definitiv Lust auf den nächsten Teil.
Auch den Erzähler muss ich sehr loben, er macht seinen Job richtig gut und schafft es die Persönlichkeiten der einzelnen Personen super hervorzuheben. Er gibt den Charakteren unterschiedliche Stimmen und es ist genau die richtige Menge an Verstellung um die einzelnen Charaktere zu unterscheiden, ohne jedoch zu übertreiben oder das es seltsam wirkt.

I enjoy the characters and their development and the voice acting is amazing.
The main character is overpowered but he still has room to grow (in ability and emotional). And with the coming doom (whatever that really means), who knows what will happen.
