I'm currently a few hours in and overall like the story. It's a bit slow, but still interesting.

The one thing that gets me time and again is how stupid the MC is from time to time.
In one moment he is thinking about strategies and has good thoughts and on the next he doesn't think at all and just does everything a normal person would never do.
I often can in no way comprehend what the MC does or doesn't do.

This is a problem that many other books have as well but it never got to the point where I wrote a review about it because it was so annoying.

So if you can life with a stupid MC it's a good story and a great narrator. And that's what keeps me listening.

So I tried it because it is a free book.
It starts slowly and I didn't know if I should listen further but I'm so glad I did it. it gets really goo.d so and now I'm sorry that I don't write further because I have to start the second book. XP

I found listening to the book to be entertaining because I like the litRPG genre in general. The genre is entertaining even if the books in it are usually no literary masterworks. Same as with this one. It‘s full of modern internet language that, to me, sounds infantile.

The protagonist is unlikeable even if the author intended to make him a good hearted „asshole“. Whenever he does something off putting an explanation of why he did it follows, which shows how good he actually is.

He kills dozens of people, but thats okay, because all of them are conveniently assholes or murderers or maniacs that needed killing.

What I liked least is all the sexual and relationship stuff. The protagonist is written as attractive and cool and all the women he interacts with are written as very good looking and hot headed. And obviously they are into the protagonist even if the situation forbids anything to happen.

To me it sounds like the author is living out his day dreams. Surrounded by attractive women and children in need, the underdog manages to rise to the top and establish himself against more experienced and older men. If that it‘s the day dream of any teenager I don‘t know what is.

Apart from all the flaws, the story was still somewhat interesting. Nothing novel in any aspect I like the building and growing aspect of litRPG and since the book was free I have no regrets listening to it.

If you like litRPG you might like this one.

The Mc is not as dumb as other ppl make him seem. He is just not an op super hero with all the answers to save the world. Just falling from on shithole into an other and trying to survive.

Viele der Details sind untypisch gut durchdacht für das LitRPG-Apocalypse-Genre, zwar nicht so gut wie Apocalypse Parenting, aber doch deutlich besser als z. B. in Defiance of the Fall (was andere hervorragende Stärken hat). Der Hauptcharakter ist leider in viele Dinge involviert, wo ihm eigentlich die Expertise fehlen sollte, und er erklärt dann als militärisch völlig unerfahrene Person etwa einem ehemaligen Berufssoldaten, wie einfache Formationen funktionieren. Mehrere POVs wären dafür besser gewesen. Generell sind der Hauptcharakter und seine politischen Ansichten das Anstrengendste an dem Buch, ob nun der Sexismus oder die Vorstellung, dass eine Siedlung nach wenigen Wochen schon eine Geldökonomie einführen müsste, damit alle anpacken, ohne die Motivation zu verlieren.

Hier im ersten Teil kommen spätere Schwächen noch kicht so stark zur Geltung.

The start of a realy cool story!

This is a realy cool mix of dungeon building, apocalypse and LitRPG! It takes all the good things and leaves the boring parts behind. The overarching story that might be toruched upon many books from now also seems to be realy cool!

I like the story, premise and overall world but the decisions of the main character really annoy me. Should have died five times over at least which I think is the number of times he’s captured. Even after he kills the mates of the group in front of them he is always left alive. Ruins the suspense after the second time.

I stayed up way too long enjoying the tale, just couldn't stop.
con:
by book four
it gets really annoying how easily our hero gets distracted!
in every fight, he zones out, he loses awareness of what's going on around him.
someone always needs to yell at him, to slap or injure him, just for him to return to the moment, to return to the fight he is currently in....
also, there are 15 min or more of possible stats and points which the author explains in length, every couple chapters...
not as bad as in other stories but still - please stop already!
