Inhaltsangabe

Captain Siobhan Dunmoore wanted to believe the long war against the invading Shrehari Empire had finally banished the ghosts of her past. But when her ship Iolanthe, a heavily armed man-of-war masked as a bulk freighter, finds itself in need of replenishment after a long patrol spent stalking human and alien foes, she is confronted with events eerily reminiscent of a past she thought buried. When evidence of treason and marauders bold enough to strike a Navy outpost leave her no choice, Dunmoore knows she must finish the cleanup job Fleet Headquarters ordered her to abandon years ago.

Fortunately, Iolanthe and her crew are the perfect instruments with which to dispense much-needed retribution, despite General Orders and the Fleet's bureaucracy doing their best to tie a captain's hands. With her ship taking on the guise of a privateer, she sets out on a merciless hunt to eliminate a band of soulless soldiers of fortune and teach the ghosts of her past a lesson they will never forget.

How monotone can you read? Yes!

The story of this book as the previous ones is mediocre, for me personally it's military sci Fi, where people just fly from a to b to c etc to try and figure out what is going on, battles don't feel tense, happen just once or twice per book and are usually done after 5 minutes.
The guy reading this is way worse that the guy whom did the first 3. He has no change in pitch, you cant tell who said what. Does weird pauses at wierd points and the recording quality isn't too good. You can hear breathing ruffling and sometimes other things.
Charakters are shallow and most of the time just represent one Charakter trait like "sarcastic first officer with charm" "solider that is overly committed to the captain" "honorable captain that has learned to master her anger issues" etc.

good book. not so good reader

good book. but very quet and monoton reader. a battle between 4 starship sound like the describtion of wet white paint drying. it gets slightly bether during the end. however background noises and random bursts of static are audiable.

story ok but the narrator destroys it

The story is a nice continua8of the saga it does feel like an interlude. The performance is as bad as it gets absolutely out of sync with what the book asks for and a stark difference to the first 3 books where the performance was great.
