Thirteen voices. Thirteen storeys. One dinner party to die for.

An innovative haunted house tour-de-force from the creator of THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES podcast.

GOING UP?

A dinner party is held in the penthouse of a multimillion-pound development. All the guests are strangers - even to their host, the billionaire owner of the building
.
None of them know why they were selected to receive his invitation. Whether privileged or deprived, they share only one thing in common - they've all experienced a shocking disturbance within the building's walls.

By the end of the night, their host is dead, and none of the guests will say what happened. His death has remained one of the biggest unsolved mysteries - until now.

But are you ready for their stories?

Kritikerstimmen

The book works both as a collection of inventive horror stories and as a cohesive novel, building to a nerve-jangling finale that reveals the shocking events at the party.
A modern horror classic from one of the most exciting writers in the field today.
Thirteen Storeys is an excellent horror [...] everyone will find something creepy in Banyan Court.
Thrilling, chilling and thoroughly entertaining
Sims really has created an innovative novel where everything falls into place within its thrilling climax.
A beautifully written contemporary horror novel that I know for sure will leave its mark on me. I don't remember reading anything like this before and it was an absolute delight.
A book that takes old traditions and gives them a contemporary spin. Happy Halloween, all.
An excellent portmanteau novel. It's an ultra modern take on the haunted house story while each tale mixes in different subgenre flavours from techno-fear and shifting architecture to creepy kids and beyond, all building to a joined up climax that's pleasingly violent and gross.
This is an astonishing debut from Jonathan Sims. A wonderful new twist on an age-old genre. 5 out of 5.

A great collection of urban horror stories, strung together by a theme of the modern and common terrors most of us are familiar with but try to tune out. The different performances are a pleasure to listen to and add a lot of character to their stories and the finale. My only small gripe would be with said finale, which succeeds in delivering catharsis but destroys most of the ambiguity and mystery the previous vignettes have successfully built up. Although, this is hardly a deal breaker and the book is still very much worth listening to.

P.S Fans of the Magnus Archive will feel right at home.

Vengeful spirits, weird dreams and strange obsessions plague the tenants of Banyan Court.
A delightful soft horror experience. The audio performances are stellar and made me enjoy it all even more.

Since I absolutely love The Magnus Archives, I was beyond excited that Jonny Sims published this book. Naturally, I had to listen right away.
It's captivating and gruesome in the best way possible, and you definitely recognize his writing style. You can see how he pulls the strings and you just know that in the end, it'll come together beautifully. As it does.

Jonny Sims is a genius

I absolutely adore this book! I only just finished and the end let me absolutely flabberghasted.
It's a tightly woven piece of idividual story lines -all solid and rich and a wonderful read in their own right- that connect from the beginning, even though one might not be able to see the threads at first.
The story itself is everything that Horror should be, but also modern and optimistic in its own way. The cast of characters as well as narrators is very diverse, and extremely relatable.
The voice actors all do an absolutely tremendous job and there wasn't a single voice I wasn't instantly taken with.
My only complain about this book is that I now feel the urge to listen to all of it again from the beginning to see what I missed the first time ;)

Masterfully crafted and highly recommended

...I had to listen to this book from Jonathan Sims! And it’s been everything I hoped for and more! From his podcast „The Magnus Archives“ I already knew, that he is fantastic in creating existential fears is his stories. In this book he takes that skill and manifests the horrors of capitalism in ways that are relatable and repulsive at the same time! Well done!

As a fan of The Magnus Archives...
